I seek a place to sleep.
I seek private, quiet, heat,
A safe retreat.
So what's there seeking me?
Do I rely too much on time?
To heal my wounds,
To sooth my mind,
When time alone's no friend.
No miles tread,
Replete with bed's fine,
threaded-combines,
Fretting for a mend:
Will I do better than my best,
If just bettered by this rest,
awake,
I'd seek something to eat.
asleep,
I dream of boneless meat
Eschew all route but through my teeth!
