About Me

some people call me bill, some people call me pascha. depends on when you met me and through who

My Interests

i'm a doctoral student in music theory. i also dabble in composition and electronic/experimental music. my academic interests are: music and subculture, rhetorical strategies in post-tonal music, nonlinear perception of time, the music of Britten, trance and ecstatic experience, nonfunctional tonality, and performance contexts as constructive elements. exploring these things is pretty much what I do in my free time, too, although with fewer footnotes and more alcohol.

I'd like to meet:

i probably already have a crush on you.

especially if you have tattoos or piercings of some sort, or hair dyed some unnatural color. but if you don't, you might still fall under one of my other crush categories.

i'm not really picky as long as you're nice.

i'm very much interested in subcultures and if you feel like you belong to one then I will probably find you interesting. it's probably because i went to catholic school and was a loner and generally socially inept. for my part, i ended up getting involved heavily in rave culture on the east coast in the early 90s. when all that started to fold up big time, i kind of morphed into a scenester for a while before going to miami and playing in a band. I hate sitting around at home.

i am very much about the old-school DIY attitude and would love to bring more interesting music to this area... especially of the what-just-happened variety. this is separate from the sort of concert music i do at school, which obviously I also think is valuable and important.
