HARD DRIVING PERFORMING SONGWRITER:
When Ted Garber played his first festival, he transformed a mild-mannered, small-town audience into a cheering throng, thus waving the checkered flag of inspiration for his future in music.
Taking chances at every turn has helped form Garber's signature style, which fuses his influences and cross pollinates genres (country, blues, reggae and rock). With a lyrical and melodic niche lying somewhere between Waits and Springsteen or Marley and Dylan, the guitar wielding, harmonica playing, beat-boxing Garber admits he's hard to classify, but he says that just makes his job all the more appealing.
Possessing the same kind of tenacity and passion that drives his musical idols, Garber dedicates his energies to reaching each individual in the audience. Equal fire and conviction surface in Garber's provocative lyrics, which, whether dealing with love or loneliness or social inequality, are always delivered with purpose and resolve.
His back up band, aptly dubbed "The Working Class Heroes," is a polished outfit sporting precise and unique arrangements.
After his initial performance at Jammin Java, one of DC's premiere singer-songwriter venues, Garber was invited back to headline twice in only three months time. Since then, in DC alone, Garber has consistently played the likes of Jammin' Java, Iota Cafe, The Santa Fe, The Rams Head Tavern, and in December 2008 made his debut at the prestigious 9:30 Club, where he co-headlined the bill. Garber's music can also be heard on local radio stations, including the region's popular FM channel, DC101.
A recent cross-country college-town tour, a loyal fan base and his high energy, cutting-edge performance style prove there's no stopping Garber. In one year, he has released two more independent albums (adding four to his credit), created a new website, printed T-shirts, posters, stickers and collected over 3,000 eager fans on his ever-growing mailing list.
Ted Garber is destined to capture the hearts of an even wider audience. Give him a stage, and he'll make it a night to remember!
