From the Southeast side of the Go, I.D. began testing the waters of this rap shit at the young age of about 10 in 1997. It started off as just a hobby to him and his lifetime friend 20/20 b.k.a 20 a.k.a Chilly Willy. Raised in the Chi under the Hip-Hop culture they formed a group called C.O.P.E. in 1999. Heavily influenced, at his young age of 13, by Hip-Hop, the 5% Nation of Islam, and the Moorish Science Temple, I.D. was on his shit. It was in 2000 when he broadened his horizons with IMC [Ill Mannered Concept], another Hip-Hop crew, and began to collaborate with them under all 4 elements of Hip-Hop (Dj'in, MC'in, Breakin, and Graf). Fuckin with the Hyde Park area and WHPK radio station (88.5 FM) as young'ns helped them to make a name for themselves. Going into high school in 2000, Hip-Hop was still in their blood, but rap styles began to change up, and this clique called Lights Out was formed (by IMC members) at Kenwood Academy.
