breaking from the still of the water, is a head, emerging along with two flailing arms wavering for the attention of something solid to grasp onto. Slow Motion; water erupts from the surface constructing poorly assembled liquid walls that spread outward from the eye of it's disrupted source. A man, spinning; half floating, half sinking doing a simple, but discordant dance of despair opens his mouth, breathes in an equally proportionate amount of water and oxygen. Laboring for life; one more half turn, arms thrashing about with a descending corkscrew motion of the body, the water swallows it's prey. And the stillness of the water is preserved once more......................... until it is broken again by a body thrusting into the air, moving towards the edge of the pool, climbing the ladder. He awkwardly climbs out of the pool as eyes pierce his back. A whistle drops from the lifeguard's mouth as the dumbfoundedess has somehow seized the muscles in his lips, no longer enabling them to carry on the function of holding an object. What a display!! What a display in the community pool today!!
