About Me

Hailing from the desolate wastelands to the west of Glasgow, Scotland, kpa's musical journey was not the norm for a boy born into his environment. Watching Bob Dylan in concert aged 3 years old must have had some affect on his sub-concious, and further childhood trips to Glastonbury could have only strengthened this (as well as being the first time he'd seen a Rasta). Summer holidays spent driving around Europe with a soundtrack of Peter Gabriel, Dire Straits, U2, Talking Heads, Fleetwood Mac and more Bob Dylan ingrained in him the component of good music that would, although he never knew it at the time, shape his thoughts later in life. These trips would also open his eyes to different cultures and ways of life not apparent back at home.
Fast forward, and Dylan once again resurfaces, but his wprds this time instead of his music. Delving into the meaning of the mans ramblings, kpa discovers the works of Kerouac and the other beat poets. On The Road, and Dharma Bums begin to shape the ideals of his being. If sitting high on a mountain watching the sun blaze its way behind the horizon whilst drinking tea with selected friends doesn't seem like a good idea to you, then perhaps kpa isn't the man for you.
Having given up guitar after the realisation that he would never be a combination of Dylan and Hendrix, kpa took to the energy and sentiment of house music. Unfortunately for him, he didn't live in Chicago circa 1986-89, so he first got into chart dance like Oakenfold and perhaps a Phats and Small vinyl did find its way into his record box.
But those were different times and after a revelatory first visit to Pressure at Glasgow's Arches, those first vinyl purchases were assinged to the attic and the electronic music of Detroit, Berlin, Paris and Dusseldorf began to shape his musical conciousness.
