So I currently work as a substitute teacher by day/drummer, writer, drinker by night. Mostly drumming right now--I'm playing with the Brian Bethke Band, having hooked up with Bri again after all these years, and jamming in a blues outfit called the West Side Experience with friends from my home town. Both acts are going well and I'm happy to be surrounded by great musicians. I miss my metal days sometimes (that would be Beautivile) but I've gotten older and my tastes have changed a bit. If you find yourself wondering where Cory has gotten to (bass player from the former Beautivile), check out Lupara, his new band. Awesome stuff.
Anyway, I can be summed up as a rather contained person who doesn't let many people see past my outer layer. I don't know why--it may be because I consider the inner side to be a sacred space that not just anyone can access. Maybe I'm selfish and lazy; maybe I'm deep and insular; probably I'm all of that. I just don't think I have any business puking my inner thoughts into the laps of near-strangers, and I believe that the real me deep inside is mostly my business and the business of those closest to me. That's probably it.
But I'm really quite nice in person.
