The whole story about Weststylers started at the edge of the new millennium the beginning of year 2000. Øystein Gabrielsen and Arve Svendsen did not know eachother back then but started producing music simultaneously. At that time, everything was produced with simple music editing software like « Ejay » and « Music Maker ».
With the help of a friend they both knew, Øystein and Arve got to know eachother which increased the interest of making music. Then they both started using more advanced programs like « Fruityloops » (modernly known as «FLStudio»). This program was used in the years 2003 and 2004. In the start of 2005 they started using the music program « Reason 2.5 » to produce music. This program has been the main program since 2005, but they have tried other programs like « Cubase ». For sampling they use other programs, which varieties after what shall be samples and what should be edited. Mentionable programs are « ACID Pro », « Adobe Audition » and « Sound Forge ».
Øystein and Arve did not start a group until the start of the year 2006. After a lot of arguments they decided to go for the name «Weststylers». After starting the group they have bought some equipment to improve the music. Example: « Microphones », « mixers », « MIDI keyboards » and « mastering equipment ».
Weststylers produce mostly trance (hardstyle and hard dance), but also produce a lot if chillout music, hip-hop beats and different music in the trance genre. Øystein Gabrielsen is the main producer in the group, while Arve Svendsen is a producer and vocalist.
When Weststylers produce «hard dance» with vocals, it varies with what vocalist to be used.
