Winter Wilson - Folk with it's roots in blues ........ There's just the two of us, Dave Wilson and Kip Winter (we're both Wilson now but Wilson Wilson sounds even more stupid than Winter Wilson).
We met about 20 years ago, and first played together in folk rock band Ragtrade, but have been playing as WW for about 13 years.
Dave plays guitar, sings and writes the songs and Kip has a fantastic voice plays various instruments (rarely) and takes the p*** out of Dave at every opportunity.
We have released four CD's of original songs, most people will know us for "Storm Around Tumbledown", (written by Dave and recorded by, amongst others, Vin Garbutt and Anthony John Clarke) there's much more to it than that, but why should you take our word for it - here's what some other folks have said:
John Tams
"Your writing is magnificent, your settings and playing equal to that and the both of you sing with rare assured passion that I oft think has gone.
It's a rare gift you have - cherish it mightily."
Mike Kirrage - Director, Gate to Southwell Folk Festival
"Two people in perfect harmony, vocally, musically and emotionally....a festival organiser's dream."
Chris Hawkins - BBC Radio 6 Music
"Not just another duo - Winter Wilson really are something special"
David Kidman - Netrhythms
"Dave Wilson's songwriting..impresses with its sheer quality and consistency (Storm Around Tumbledown has now entered the hallowed pantheon of modern-day folk standards).
Tony Dinsdale - Reedham Ferry Folk Festival
Winter Wilson make a very strong impression live, with both Dave & Kip being the proud possessors of brilliantly expressive voices which Dave's skilled guitar work compellingly enhances. You really don't need anything else to bring these excellent songs alive"
Vin Garbutt
"BRILLIANT"
