Music: so dear to heart, I have always had a rich sound track in my life. I have been raised with THE BEST music.
My yankee step dad first taught me to play 'Stand By Me' on guitar... the second song I ever learned was one I wrote myself. My Dad bought me my first guitar on the provisor I learn to play Little Wing my Jimi Hendrix... no high expectations there... of course, I do play it, but like all my covers, I add a twist of Emma into the Wild mix.
Currently I play around the town, watch for coming gigs, both covers and originals. I cover something old something new, something twisted something blue.
I was raised in the thick forest heartland of Tasmania and there my beloved wrinklies played all the greats of the hippy era and beyond and a hoard of bluegrass and Folk and of course Rock and Roll Over! From a young age I went to my step dad's gigs and was always the first up dancing. It seemed a natural progression for me to perform as I was always involved in festivals gigs in the community halls that reeked of pot and homebrew and the local theatre which was rich in talented performers.
My Dad also lived in the bush and introduced me to the arty musical stuff like Marianne Faithful, Laurie Anderson, Lou Reed, The Pretenders and Talking Heads. They all had sublime taste in sounds and I owe much to them.
Of course, soon as I could develop my own tastes I loved Gunners, the Crue, AC/DC, and later The Cure, NIN, PJ Harvey, and the Pixies.
I have always written in one form or another prolifically, and in the last five years have focussed on songs in particular. I have a wicked sense of humour and no modesty in admitting that. It's kept me alive inside so many times, and I write with my tongue in my cheek half the time and my heart on my sleeve the rest of the time. I hope you dig my shit and come to a gig to say g'day sometime....
