About Me
My name is Jay Hayes, I am from West Milford, NJ, but I live in Elmwood Park. Over the past six years, I have become involved in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I am a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from Jared Weiner and Lloyd Irvin. In 2007, I won a Gold medal at the Pan American Jiu-Jitsu Championships in Carson, California, winning all five matches with no points scored against. This year I won the Bronze medal at the 2009 Pan American Jiu-Jitsu Championships. I am also a 2006 and 2008 Grapplers Quest USA Trials Professional No-Gi division semi-finalist, a 7 time Grapplers Quest champion, 6 time North American Grapplers Association (NAGA) champion, and a NJ State Open under 190 lbs champion. I am the head Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor at LA Boxing in Hoboken, NJ. Our facility in Hoboken has a professional boxing ring, a half cage similar to what is used in the UFC, boxing and kickboxing heavy bags and pads, weights, as well as cardio equipment. LA Boxing has classes in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, Kickboxing, and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). We also offer cardio kickboxing classes which are very popular among both men and women. In a one hour class, participants burn anywhere from 800 to 1000 calories!
