Sergio Villarroel moved to New Jersey (EE.UU.) from Barcelona in 1986 at the age of 10 where he was introduced to Hip Hop, Reggae, House and Techno music culture. Ray Keith..s 'Terrorist' and Deep Blue's 'Helicopter' brought all of his musical influences together, capturing his junglist beginnings. Through house parties, special dj friends and an ear for new sounds, he was inspired to find his nitch.
Sergio aka EGRES began djing professionally in 1997 playing radios, house parties, raves and clubs in the New York/New Jersey area including Camouflage, Recess, Konkrete Jungle, Aperature, Push, Direct Drive, Acupuncture, Testpress and NYC Jungle Radio. Through his hard work, he gained his residency at Testpress, one of New York's longest running Drum and Bass parties. Egres's dj talent covers all of the sub-genres of Drum and Bass from Leftfield to Jump-up in an intense and smooth rolling style that focuses on melody capturing the heart of the dance floor.
Currently, egres represents the independent, eclectic drum and bass label Offshore Recordings as the only international dj included in their roster. He is also part of 'NuBe9', playing their parties and radio shows with Mc Stormy. His ear for new sounds led him to the position as the Drum and Bass buyer at Galaktika Records in Gracia (Barcelona). Finally back to where it all started, egres has plans and is working on projects to bring fresh energy to the Spanish Jungle/Drum and Bass scene with the formation of his group SURCO. He established the "SURCO SESSIONS" that brought dj MARTYN in June 2006, MISS FICEL in early 2007 and PHACE in September 2008. He also started the highly respected weekly-sessions, "DEEP JUNGLE", that bring forth a maturer DnB sound to Barcelona like never seen before. Now embarking into new musical territories like DUBSTEP as well, EGRES is looking towards a bright future.
