Picking life skills learned since he was a young boy in Lotherton Pathway (‘Village’) in the Westend of Toronto and using them to enhance himself and others, Franz is a testimony that you can lead yourself out of any situation. F.T. has gained courage from corruption, determination from detriment and passion from poverty. Now gearing up to release his solo debut album “Today’s Tomorrow” and working as a Youth Outreach Worker for the City of Toronto, Franz Thomas is the person to go to when others who were in his situation had no one. Like the click he has claimed for seven years now, Franz Thomas is the true characterization of a Hu$tlemann. “The games gone from old school, to new school, to after-school bullyin’, the worlds gone mad and everyone’s a hooligan, friends from JK got AK's to do ya in” Franz has always been known to do things with compelling drive. From balling on the court for hours, to rhyming non-stop at any gathering of people, to winning 100’s of battles, his purpose has always been to leave his mark. It started a long time ago as school yard poetry, leading to a high demand of ‘Franz Thomas’ personalized answering machine messages. He garnered massive amounts of airtime on his high school radio station, which soon grew into constant rotation on his nation’s top college radio stations. Understanding the cruel realities of this music industry, Franz has studied what he needs to do business wise in order to prosper artistically and economically. “It’s hard learnin’ from a sermon that teaches how to rob/ droppin’ in the offerin’ and the preacher drives a Saab" Franz has trouble referring to himself as a rapper considering that most who touch the mic today aren’t the inventive writers that they should be. An MC has to say something! There must be a message in some form for the audience to be left with. Franz rhymes about everything he knows, from the good to the bad to what he could have done better. Whatever he has ever done though, it has always been in abundance, and his music shows us this with full devotion and concentration on the subject at hand. Franz does not give the listener a song, he indisputably gives them an experience. Having longevity is something which is far too often unobserved in the rap industry with a new hit coming and going every day. Franz sees himself in a league with the tops, and like his predecessors he plans to make an impact and be around for an extensive period of time. Having opened for some of Hiphop’s Heavyweights including Mobb Deep, Bootcamp Click, Reakwon, Young Buck and various others, it is clear that his talent is not only highly recognized by important industry people, but his word has had the chance to begin to touch various audiences, and it is only a matter of time before he impresses the rest. "Ya, the eyes are the windows to the soul no doubt/ but my mouth is the escape rout out" Franz always focuses on ensuring that the message is always prominent in his tracks. While he highly prides himself on being a very talented novelist, his rhymes are all structured in his mind. His uniqueness not only lies within hypnotizing rhyme patterns and his crafty stringing together of stanzas, but Franz has one of the most melodic flows in the industry and can adapt to various instrumentals depending on where his mood and thought train is at. “I’m from the land where the man with one eye can be king/ ‘Cause when someone gets shot, no one seen a damn thing" Cultures that have flourished have been because people gain wisdom and can pass it on. Franz wants to position himself where he can inform people as to what he’s been through and help enlighten them to provide further opportunities and more positive environments. Whether it be through his Outreach work with youth, or more popularly influential methods such as rocking the mic, Franz is determined to make a difference in a community that is often mislead by so called leaders.
