Swivelchair Accident formed in Lincolnshire in 1998; then a two-piece consisting of Mark Berryman and Paul Speed. After writing and re-working material from their previous band Slider; Marks brother Adam joined as guitarist. Throughout 1999 they wrote and recorded songs for their debut EP Clear Day and recruited Vincent Weavers as drummer for a short time. Shortly after releasing Clear Day Paul and Vincent left the band and were replaced by Myk Duncalf on guitar, and James Gilby on drums (school friends of Adam).
For the next two years the band wrote a large number of songs and recorded their debut album Speak To Me. During this time the band also plated a number of gigs in the local area, and formed relationships with other local bands. In 2002 Speak To Me was released as the band played gigs with Tuuli, The Wayriders, Tiny Elvis and Four Star Mary, which started the band playing venues further afield over the next few years. This led into larger venues and supporting Kasabian in Peterborough.
Late 2004 onwards saw band members spend time working on their degrees and other work so less gigs were played; but saw them continue writing new material. In early 2006 Myk Duncalf left the band; but they carried on as a three-piece through the recording of another EP (as yet unreleased). During the summer of 2006 Danny Browne joined the band; and they re-worked a lot of old material as well as writing new songs. A gig in August of 2006 would see them play live after nearly a year. Since then the band have worked on new material for a new CD
