Chris Marsh records indie-pop-rock-post-folk as theinfiniteregress. After living in Derby for some time, he finally found himself in London, by what can only be described as an act of God.
He likes Teenage Fanclub, Underoath, Eliane Radigue, Scout, Beth Orton, Atari Teenage Riot, and The Rocket Summer. He also likes a lot of other music. He also likes a lot of other things that are not music, like marmite. And Eddie Izzard.
One day in 1995 Chris was bored and decided to borrow his Dad's guitar to try to learn some chords.
In 1996 he wrote his first song.
In 1997 he recorded his first set of songs, Musings Of A Man Who Thinks Too Much, recorded on a beat up tape recorder which played everything back half a semitone sharp.
In 2001 he finished his 10th collection of songs, Ten which was recorded on 4-track, and then started recording on PC, using multitracking software.
In 2004 he began using looped beats on his tracks and began recording more experimental instrumental tracks.
In 2005 he discovered to beauty of drone and was made into a new person.
In 2006 he started production on his 13th recording attempt, The Wages Of Sin Is Death, bringing together many of the styles he had previously dabbled in. This recording was completed but then aborted, with a view to use the most prominent tracks in...
... the latest theinfiniteregress album, Melodramatispersonae.
Chris can be found performing in and around London sporadically, and is the driving force behind the ambient-noise side project, In Kit Form . He has recently begun to pursue his love of ambient drone in The Chris Marsh Drone Project , and is also a member of the Derby audio-visual collective Side Effect Euphoria .
