Cyph-Low Birth name Van Elliott Chambless was born in the small town of Peekskill, New "Hustle" York. Raised in Bohlman Towers housing apartments he has seen and heard the sadest stories that the hood has to offer. Since a child Cyph-Low (Connecting Young People's Hearts And Living Out Wishes) has been involved in music. His father David Lee Chambless was A Pianist In New Yorks Sound City Band, and back round vocalist in theold school hip hop group D.W.I.(Done With Intellengence). His mother sang the lead in both groups and also compose songs for various artist and movie soundtracks. Van Elliott has always had a natural love for singing but at the early age of 5 he found hip hop. He began writing songs to melodies his older brother played on his casio keyboard. He took first place in an Oakside elementary school talent show with his brother on the piano and his cousin right beside spit verses. Every since that day his path has been made. He continued to perform and polish his style of music he calls "Street Soul". He began to Record Numerous songs and write for many other artist in his neighborhood. In middle school he became friends with Andre "N00dle" Rainey, a fellow MC with skills he felt could stand up to his agresive and extraordinary level of rap far beyond his age. At the age of 15 he lost his older Brother Ian Chambless(rest In Peace). A major inspiration was taken from him. That wound had no time to heal befor 2 weeks had passed and his mother Died. Van Then picked up his alter ego Cyph-Low. He started getting more involved in the streets that his parents tried to keep him from. Though life was hard he continue to try hard. He graduated from Peekskill High School In 2002 and went on to obtain an associates degree from the State University of New York at Morrisville were a tie in a freestyle battle between him and Sincere the Great lead him to appear on BET's 106 and park. The Performance was on June 16th, his 21st birthday(the day B-day as 2pac) He only maid it to his second week befor the kicked him offf exclaiming that his hot bars were writen when infact the person that he was battling had just spit the same rhyme outside the 106 door earlier. He didn't take the lost hard. This a person who has battled at 2005 Summerjam in front of thousands of people, Been on the Showtime at the Apollo tour,A person that has opened up for Such established artist such as Kurtis Blow, Joe Buddens and more. He doesn't focus on the bad, he sees the bright side of the moon everytime he looks up. Cyph-low has formed a bond with another artist quickly on the rise by the name of ALL-Biz. Instantly the musical connection was there. These motivated individuals along along side with Ski-Hi of Friend or Foe Records decided that it was time for real artist to get their shine on. Microphonebully.com is a fully functional hip-hop website that delivers the news of our hip hop culture, brief cd and dvd reviews, and interviews with some of tomorrows future stars and todays hip-hop pioneers. Slowly Cyph-low is creating a space between himself as an artist and him as a true hip-hop fan.
