About Me

Welcome the NEPVRG's MYSPACE page!

We hope this page answers some of your questions about Paranormal Investigations and in particular, the New England Paranormal Video Research Group.

Of course, there is no way to answer every question about the paranormal, but we at the NEPVRG try to disseminate basic understanding of these phenomena to prospective clients, new members and other interested persons. We believe that only through careful research, meticulous collection of data and proper dissemination of this information to the public is any real understanding possible. So let's start with the basics.

What is “paranormal”? The word paranormal simply means “above normal,” nothing more. The word itself does not assume the presence or participation of spooks, haunts, ghosts or extra-terrestrials in association with phenomenon - these assumptions are left to each individual’s own interpretation of available evidence. A truly responsible Paranormal Investigator will always be careful never to make assumptions based on unusual data (usually collected in photographic, video or audio form). The Investigator will simply present the evidence to the client and allow that person to make their own judgment. If a particular phenomenon, whether captured by an investigator’s recording equipment or simply experienced by an individual, cannot be recreated by normal, or natural means, the phenomenon can then safely be dubbed paranormal—meaning only that the phenomenon is something above the normal and has not yet been explained by modern science or debunking methods. What do paranormal investigators do? As paranormal investigators, we exhaust all available means to debunk, or disprove what at first may seem unexplainable before we declare such a thing truly paranormal. There are a lot of so-called Paranormal Investigators out there who leap to conclusions, assuming that every light anomaly, mist, or orb in a photograph is evidence of the paranormal. How is the NEPVRG different than other groups? We at the NEPVRG pride ourselves on our high level of technological equipment, our individual skills and our professionalism both in the field in later, in the analysis of the evidence. In fact, while many groups seek to prove the existence of the paranormal as often as possible, we regularly disprove or discard 95% of these sorts of anomalies. Why? We believe that hard evidence is the key and we have no desire to make a claim, only to have it disproved by someone else. What is a typical investigation like? First and foremost, great care is taken by all NEPVRG team members to respect the privacy and property of the client during any investigation. If the client decides that areas of the property will not be investigated, then these areas simply are not explored. Similarly, if a client chooses to be present during the investigation, we make every effort to accommodate them. Our goal is to protect the property and safety of everyone involved. That's why, in some cases, we will limit the client's participation during the course of our investigation. We have a variety of tools and equipment at our disposal, which also need to be protected. The bottom line? We take care to be respectful and act with professionalism. We see ourselves as guests on the property. What happens with the evidence you collect? At the conclusion of the on-site investigation, there is an extensive and review and analysis of the material (many hours of footage and recording data) gathered. This stage of the investigation takes place at the NEPVRG headquarters and can take days, or weeks - our goal is to be as complete and thorough as possible. If we find any evidence of paranormal activity, we compile a report, along with a copy of audio or video material gathered and shared with the client personally and as confidentially as the client requests. During the sit-down, evidence is shown and explained to the client. We try to answer all questions pertaining to this evidence, while keeping in mind that much of the paranormal defies rational explanation. The client is then free to use or discard this evidence as he or she sees fit. How much do you charge? The NEPVRG does not get paid for conducting investigations. We see our research and ability to educate others as payment enough. How confidential is this process? We do NOT release any information to the public against the client's wishes. The NEPVRG takes great care to maintain our client's confidentiality - from our arrival on-site to the investigation and our findings. Why don't you list your upcoming activities on a calendar? Because the vast majority of our investigations take place at homes and businesses. We do not release any identifying material until the client has approved it. As for investigations taking place on public grounds, we want to keep the area as free from possible contamination as possible.

Hopefully, this overview will give you a basic understanding of what the NEPVRG is all about.
