South Florida ain’t just beaches. It's where you will always see a Miami Dolphins and Miami Heat jersey. It's where chit-lens are hand cleaned, you catch your own damn fish, and pigeon peas and rice is NOT black eye peas. It's where no matter what neighborhood you in, every block has a “storehouse.†Where a hot sausage, chips, with a Chek soda is not a snack, but a meal. It's where you know where you at just by how close 27th Ave / University Dr., 441, I 95, or the Turnpike is. It's where a Crown Victoria, and a, ‘97-before, Ford Taurus, Toyota, or Honda is considered a NEW car. Where people don't wear “White T’s†they wear ‘Arabs.’ And the Flea Market and the Swap Shop is the spot! Where niggaz get Tapes, or locks and ya sister do her hair plus everyone else’s. Where your homegirl’s boyfriend’s cousin is also your teacher’s niece that owns the nail place down the street from your auntie. Most importantly, where you don't say “Hello,†instead you just nod ya head. Its where “Jookin", "City Girl/Boi" and "Boppin" is a dance you MUST know, and people look weird doin the Laffy Taffy or Beat Ya Feet. Where we don't complete words, we shorten em! Its where people ride or die for Family, even if you found out that same day you were related and didn't even like the person. The place where Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and Pompano IS the club!. Where cities like Carol City, Hialeah, Lauderdale, Overtown, Little Haiti, Kendall, Lauderhill, Deerfield Beach, Miami Lakes and Miramar, are known by the school they closest to. Dillard, Sunshine, Carol City, Northwestern, Parkway, Plantation, Miami Lakes, American….THAT is South Florida. We keep shit REAL!
