Jack Klatt

About Me

Steeped in a long tradition of Minneapolis folk music, Klatt writes musical telegraphs from a bygone age. His music evokes equally the well crafted lyrical themes of Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan and the rebellious fire of the Clash. Fresh off a stint in southern Europe, Klatt brings to the stage a variety of influences, from Delta blues to punk rock, as he plies his trade as troubadour. Whether breathing new life into traditional blues or inspecting current events through protest songs, Klatt displays a command of language, guitar and harmonica well beyond his years. His recently self released CD, “Eleven Hail Marys,” recorded on two separate continents, captures the raucous yet intimate feeling of his live shows. (Bozeman Entertainment Weekly Aug. 1st 2008) ************************************************************ ************** Also just moved to Portland (from somewhere near the Elektra label circa 1969) Jack Klatt arrives. His delicate odes and haunting ballads stick to the walls like smoke and shadows, which are nouns, but they are no substitute for these songs, and these similes are really no match for sitting quietly and listening to Jack sing and play.
