The Willoughbys

About Me

THE WILLOUGHBYS have unique spot in the Vermont music scene. No drum set, but congas to drive; no loud electric guitar, but tasty cowboy licks when needed; not one, but four singers able to lead a tune. This band can play a large outdoor festival, or your cozy living room with a wood stove.
Former members of THE WARRENS, THE WILLOUGHBYS are a four-piece band playing music of the American landscape. With songs from the Americana songbook, they weave their vocal harmonies together with guitars, accordion, mandolin, violin, lap steel, congas, acoustic bass, and cello. Inspiration is drawn from artists such as Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle, Gillian Welch, and the Jayhawks.
BILL MYREGAARD: After going to the Berklee College of Music in Boston and hoping to be a rock n roll star, Bill moved up to Vermont to chill. He plays acoustic & electric guitars, mandolin, violin, and lap steel guitar in The Willoughbys. A Music Teacher in the Burlington Schools, he plays and teaches over 15 different musical instruments! He was a veteran of the folk/rock band The Warrens for 15 years.
TIM COLEMAN is the Soul of The Willoughbys, singing and playing accordion and acoustic guitar. A native of Clinton, CT, Tim arrived many moons ago in VT and has run the COTS services for the homeless forever! Tim was also a past member of The Warrens for 15 years.
DEBBIE SCHLOSSER'S vocals give The Willoughbys their beautiful sound and she keeps our rhythm honest with congas and other percussion instruments.
FLIP BROWN plays electric bass (fretted and fretless), guitar, and sings with The Willoughbys. A fantastic musical addition to the band, he knows more Gram Parsons tunes than the rest of us combined. A member of local legends, the Retro Rockets, Flip is a virtual musical encyclopedia of Americana music!
ANDREW ALBRIGHT plays acoustic bass and cello with The Willoughbys, while keeping a full schedule with many other bands. You can find Andrew with such diverse groups as The UVM Orchestra, Jenni Johnson's Jazz band, or The Montpelier Chamber Orchestra. His cello is so lyrical that it often sounds like another voice in our band.
