Karl King was born in 1891 in Paintersville Ohio. He grew up as a self taught Musician playing Baritone with very little schooling of any kind. When he was 18, he directed circus bands including Barnum and Bailey, Buffalo Bill's Wild Show and the Sells-Floto Circus. King published more than 300 works including waltzes, overtures, rags, and 188 Marches and Screamers. King's best known march is Barnum and Bailey's Favorite March. Some of his other famous marches include The Big Cage, Emblem of Freedom, Hosts of Freedom, The Melody Shop, The Trombone King, Robinson's Grand Entry, and Torch of Liberty. Despite he may of outwritten Sousa by 50 marches he was still unknown in the US. King Died in 1971 from lung failure
