otomy: the short story otomy officially came to life in July of 2002.
Ian began playing guitar at an early age. At 21, he moved to Los Angeles and began working at various recording studios such as Chick Corea's Mad Hatter Studios, Hollywood Sound, and Ocean Studios. He worked on Dave Navarro's 2001 release Trust No One, Face to Face 2001 Reactionary, and Fear Factory 2001 Digimortal. In early 2001 he relocated to Phoenix, AZ.
Josh started playing guitar in 1992 and formed the short-lived band Oedipus Plague, which later dissolved in 1993. In 1995, he helped to form the original band of five which provided the initial groundwork for otomy.
Herbie first picked up a bass because he wanted to be like Les Claypool. That didn't happen, but he still plays on. He was one of the original 5 and a member of Oedipus Plague. In 2003 he came to his senses and joined otomy.
As for a drummer...when we find one that works out (or that can play in time to a click!!), we'll let you all know!
