West Goshen Benefit Jam

The West Goshen Benefit Jam takes place each year at the amphitheater in West Goshen park (see link listed to the left) . Started in 2003 by local artist Justin King, the jam gives Philadelphia and regional musicians the opportunity to bring their music outside to promote positive change in the community. ............................................................ ............................................................ ......... There is no admission charged; instead, concert-goers are encouraged to donate dry goods (shampoo, soap, toothbrushes/paste, deoderant, etc.) that are then distributed to the homeless in West Chester through an organization called "Chester County Cares". ............................................................ ............................................................ ......... NEW THIS YEAR!!! We will be taking donations to support a new recycling program for kids with special needs at MELMARK (www.Melmark.org). Your donations will help Melmark build a new Recycling Center on campus and supply each classroom/home with areas to collect and separate materials. The vocational program, headed by Alan Arici, is developing curriculum to help children at the Melmark School learn how to participate in the recycling process and utilize the Recycling Center. There will be a table sponsored by Melmark at the JAM this year where you can get more information and talk with Alan about the new program. ............................................................ ............................................................ ......... The park has a large playground, clean public bathrooms, grills for bar-b-ques, picnic tables, and numerous sporting options (basketball courts, sand volleyball, baseball, etc.).
