About Me
Named Jasmine for her bright smile and welcoming eyes, Jasmine Burke has always been destined for the stars. In elementary school Jasmine caught the acting bug during her break-out performance as Ms.Coretta Scott King in her school’s annual Dr Martin Luther King Jr. celebration. Her mother, Melissa, quickly realized that her daughter was blessed with the gift of entertaining and signed her to a local agency.
As she grew from a little girl into a young lady, Jasmine immersed herself in beauty pageants, cheerleading, track and her school work. But even in school, she couldn’t escape her calling. In middle school she discovered drama classes, which gave her an outlet for performing.
In high School Jasmine was “Miss. Everything.†She won best actress awards for competing in drama competitions, talent show awards for singing and dancing, community awards for her volunteering, scholarships to college and was runner up for Miss Black teen Atlanta. Jasmine had a choice after high school to go to school on scholarship or pursue her dream of being an international superstar; acting, singing and dancing. She didn’t want to disappoint her family, being the first to graduate high school and go to college on scholarship. She chose college and it was bitter sweet for her. She loved making her family proud but her soul was calling for her passion. Two years dragged by in college, and then she decided to take a break to pursue her dream. After Jasmine’s decision to break from college she was hit with the harsh realities of being a struggling artist. During that time Jasmine started watching the popular television show “Making the Band†on MTV to see what she might be getting herself into. Jasmine secretly desired to be apart of “Making the Band†but knew she had missed that chance because the popular show was already on television. During the season finale of “Making the Band†Diddy announced that he would not be making a band that season. In addition, he was going back out into the word to find more girls to make his super girl group. Jasmine knew that this was her chance!
Giving up her security and safety, once again, for a one in a million opportunity, she jumped in her hooptie in the middle of the night headed to Oralando,Fla to audition . She arrived the next morning full of hope and confidence, waited in line for 8 hours and put her back to the wall. She didn’t get a call back. She returned home to Atlanta, but she knew she couldn’t give up. She felt in her heart that her talent deserved a chance to be seen by Diddy.. With no money and no job, she had no idea how she was going to get to the next audition date in New York. She had never been to N.Y. in her life and had no idea where she was going to sleep or where the audition venue was located. She was official the first person at the second round of the N.Y. auditions and was even there before the MTV crew arrived! Jasmine was selected to be a part of the show. She ended up being a finalist and the only young lady on her season representing Atl,GA.After the show Jasmine returned home to Atlanta,GA, this time she decided to reflect on the past year of her life and how it had been a world wind. She had made so much progress and accomplished so much in one year. She was looking forward to new challenges. In the summer of 2006 Jasmine received her break of a life time. She was cast in the new Tyler Perry feature film “Daddy’s Little Girls.†Without an agent or management, she landed the role that has re-introduced her to the world as a legitimate talent. She has kept her focus on her goals and continued honing her craft.
