About Me
Hailing from Austin TX, the Live Music Capital of the World, comes an artist with the heart of a soldier, mind of a poet, and the soul of a hustler.
Born in California and raised in Texas, MVP (Most Versatile Poet) combines the best of both worlds from smooth Down South Ballin to laid-back West Coast Gangsta. Working his way across the country, MVP keeps the game moving with his indie record label, Ground Up Records. This bilingual phenomenon has hardcore lyrics, possessing a freestyle that adapts to any beat, and is influenced by many culturally diverse genres. He writes, sings, and produces his music from varied sources while mixing influences into a seamless style.
Living in the Capital City exposed me to all styles of music, which ignited the flame and I began to explore and cultivate my love for rhythm and poetry. My eclectic style of music is multidimensional - we fuse Latin with funk, blues with hip-hop as well as gangsta and reggae. We are chartering new territory while mastering the balance between commercial and street. I hope that my music will inspire and teach the youth that knowing your roots, family, love, and to never give up hope IS the true spirit of life."
MVP dropped his debut album, BALL-STAR, which featured the hit songs, Bangin and Summertime Grind. These two hits exploded and received airplay across the Southwest. He followed up with the underground album, ENCOUNTERS OF THE BROWN KIND, where he demonstrated his versatility with In Da Slab. MVP was back in the studio and dropped the next mixtape, MEX-FILES AREA-512 which has been selling out the trunk from Texas to California. But it is his latest project ILLEGO ALIEN, that is poised to be his most dominant statement to date, solidifying MVPs position among the hip-hop elite. This album is so illegal in so many ways, were creating songs that have never been done before, meshing styles that no one has ever thought of, states MVP.
The first hit single off the ILLEGO ALIEN album titled GRINDIN, a track depicting the lowrider lifestyle and culture in the Southwest, is generating an over whelming response. He flows back and forth, laid-back in a smooth Texas drawl, proving that not only can he flow, but his poetical wordplay is fresh and original as well as crafty. Southern twang combined with heavy Latin grooves, MVPs rhythmic poetry convince you to drop your top, sit low, and glide through the galaxy.
No-half-steppin/when this Aztec wreckin/I was destined for the life of a Mexican legend.
Desperately needing an ambassador, La Raza has a new hero and a new voice in MVP. This artist is doing more than just representing his roots; he is bringing unity and respect to all cultures. Its more than just a dream-- its a movement.
