One Nation Underdog

It's hard to be a genius...

About Me

One Nation Underdog is the umbrella name for musical projects initiated by core creators Mark Harvey, Jonathan Leahey, and John Caniglia.

Harvey and Leahey began their musical career together as the comedy music duo, the Rosponyonov Brothers. They started primarily as political satirists, but eventually broke into much broader social satire. They also performed most of their live and studio music completely spontaneously and released their work through the small indie company they formed, Ligachev Records.

Because their nation of underdog artists expanded, they wanted a more inclusive name, hence, One Nation Underdog. As their "nation" grew, so did the need for better production and planning. So ONU held onto spontaneity and humor, but eventually produced music that encompassed a plethora of styles: punk, blues, funk, rock, metal, country, rockabilly, and even polka.

John Caniglia joined Harvey and Leahey as a core member during their artistic expansion era. Caniglia was a roadie and artistic advisor for ONU. He later started his own band, alternative rockers Abstract Minds. Harvey and Caniglia eventually started writing music together, and then integrated their work into the Underdogs' repertoire.

They currently reside in the greater Kansas City area, continue to produce original music, and occasionally play gigs when they feel like it. As artists, they are happy to perform but also are happy to please no one but themselves.

ONU invites you to join their underdog nation!
