About Me

Simeyon was born in Atlanta, GA by an African American mother and Haitian father. Being the child of a teenage mother fresh out of high school, his life journey started rough and was automatically filled with many ups and downs. The early years of his life were spent in the ghettos of the city. 1040 Chivers Street was the residence of his grandmother in a project known as Bowen Homes, which was where he spent much of his youth due to the fact that his mother worked often. Simeyon drew attention naturally thanks to the caramel skin, handsome face, and almond eyes his father gave him. So when he decided to open his mouth to sing for the first time at the age of four, everyone around him could not deny the magic his presence commanded.Initially his stepfather’s mother whom he called Big Mama took an interest in him and wanted to get him involved in acting and modeling, which he pursued for many years before he even considered becoming a recording artist. Working mostly as the muse of photographer Jack Gaston, he also worked as a commercial model doing print work for Coca-Cola, Vidal Sassoon, Windward Properties, and PBS. Simeyon fulfilled his musical interests only in the church, singing in both youth and adult choirs at Unity of Faith Christian Ministries, Inc. He also performed in church and high school plays and musicals, always nurturing his desire to be an entertainer. In 1998, Simeyon met record producer and talent manager Clifford Simms who for the first time encouraged him to begin recording a demo. Simms helped direct Simeyon’s pursuit to establish a music career. This also led him to his first vocal coach named Cinnamon, who helped him solidify his ideals for what kind of entertainer he wanted to be and exactly which direction he should move towards.Years passed and efforts failed and it was now 2002. Now working with the artist development group Jan Smith Studios® Simeyon finally recorded his first hit single “Foxy Little Tina”, which caught the attention of April Love with The Artist Factory®, whom he met at a NARAS demo critique session. Shortly thereafter Simeyon landed his first record deal with A-Town Records. Since this was an Indie label resources were limited, but Simeyon went on to record three more promising tunes, none of which made it to mainstream radio. However, he did make his rounds locally performing at the venues Smith’s Olde Bar & Eddie’s Attic, and participating in talent shows and American Idol.In 2005 he decided to walk away from his deal with A-Town Records and enrolled as a part-time music student at Georgia Perimeter College. Majoring in classical voice and minor in piano he excelled scholastically maintaining a 4.0 GPA and perfect attendance, and is an honorary member of Phi Theta Kappa. Participating in concert choir and individual vocal performance kept his voice in great shape and prepared him for his next recording project which has materialized in 2007 as “But I Love You”. Now with a vocal range from C2 to E6 he executively produced, wrote, composed and arranged the new set with the exception of one cover song “Sista” written by one of his favorite jazz singers Rachelle Ferrell. With the help of producers Michael Wynne and Karsten Durand, he brought to life two new infectious tunes and one spoken word piece. Now solidified as a unique recording artist, Simeyon has a sound that is fresh and needed in mainstream music. Most often likened to Al Jarreau and Prince, his sound is progressive R&B that focuses on the exceptional personality of his vocal performance and the depth of his song lyrics. His music is guaranteed to touch the joy of the soul and warm the hearts of all who listen. Funky, fresh, free-flowing, delightful melodies paired with pure energy known as the Voice of Simeyon.
