Having been raised on southern gospel and singing in church, The House Family decided to make it official roughly 6 years ago. Relying on their family harmony, they set about perfecting their sound, and began singing at local concerts.
In 2003, The House Family completed their first project, "Narrow is the Road". Produced by Marty Funderburk and recorded at Daywind Studios in Nashville, this album contained a mixture of the old and the new, with several tracks written by members of the group's extended family.
Just this year, The House Family went back into the studio to record their second project, "Let the Light Shine". They travelled back to Nashville to record once more at Daywind Studios, with Marty Funderburk as their producer. Wanting a variety of styles to complement their differing musical tastes, the group chose an eclectic mix of older songs like "Long as I Got King Jesus", "He Ain't Never Done Me Nothin' But Good", and "After Awhile", as well as a fresh batch of brand-new songs like "When I'm Down to Nothing", written by the talented Marty Funderburk, and "When Heaven's Joy is Mine", written by award-winning writer Rebecca Peck.
The House Family has developed a following in the Memphis area, and is looking to broaden their horizons. They attend The Way of Holiness Church in Walls, MS where Arlen House is the preacher.
