About Me

No stranger to performing, Karys Rhea continues her journey from acting to dance to songwriting. Having written over 50 original songs, including a professional demo - Karys is now well on her way with a musical career. Performing often on the street, in cafes, & other venues around the world from New York to India, her fan base is growing. Her vast interest in music began at the age of six when she started taking formal piano lessons with Jef Labes, and her love of the theater flourished when she soon began singing and acting in musical productions such as Grease (Frenchie), Annie (Duffy), and Showboat (Kim). Karys' love of music eventually led to expression through dance, and in her early teen years, she auditioned and was accepted into two dance companies. Her performances have included the San Francisco Hip-hop Dancefest 2004 and the NBA All-Star Pre-game 2001. Karys studied guitar and voice throughout high school with Deborah Winters, and received a degree in journalism at New York University, which will only have a positive effect on her already expressive song lyrics. Karys has a lot to say that can be reflected upon by listeners of all ages who wonder about the state of the world, relationships, and their own life experiences. Her songs entail wrenching honesty, reflective analysis, and on her more pop style tunes - the sheer exuberance of being alive and creative in the world. This singer/songwriter will be pleasing audiences for a long time to come.
