The IL.Literits

About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace) Two parts style, two parts substance, plus the perfect timing equals The IL.Literits. Group members LDorado Jonez and Tony ‘Lowe’ Maphi concoct unique blends of nimble lyricism and hardcore street raps that hit issues from the block to Capitol Hill. Their reality raps are reminiscent of an era seemingly long gone form today’s Hip-Hop soundscape. But don’t dust off your 8ball jackets just yet, The IL.Literits aren’t interested in going back to anybody’s heyday. They’re too busy moving forward. “…like Barak Hussein Obama everybody diggin me…” Tony ‘Lowe’ Maphi Hailing from Harvey, IL along Chicago’s infamous South Side, The IL.Literits began as kids fascinated by ‘80s Hip-Hop culture. Soaking up the sounds of N.W.A., Run DMC, LL Cool J and others, it wasn’t long before the young Lowe and L were trying their hands at DJing, breaking, and finally settling on MCing. As time went on, the duo would find musical influences ranging from ‘70s Funk to Alternative Rock to Chicago’s budding rap scene. Through scores of open mic and show case appearances (including opening for national acts like Nas and Mobb Deep) The IL.Literits found and refined their sound and stage performance. “…we either making a mess or making history…”-LDorado Jonez On their debut project, DNA The Building Blocks Of Legends, The IL.Literits, with producer Harvy Allbangers, crafted a masterpiece by combining life-conscious lyrics with futuristic electro-hip hop beats, birthing their sound, medicinecandy. Medecinecandy is the combination of what they want and what they need to hear, street music with a soul. On the title song DNA, The IL.Literiets spit their cutting edge flow over a concussion inducing beat while the hook hypnotically chants “…blame it on my DNA they wanna get a sample…” The song then goes on to compare abolitionism with street hustle and, as The IL.Literits do so well, spit a balanced message. Armed with hard knock life lessons and street savvy, The IL.Literits are ready to deliver a dose of what the currently ailing Hip-Hop body needs, Medecinecandy; Soulful and Gritty flavor, the formula for a balanced diet. Enjoy yourself
