About Me

Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. Last Speech
.. SkuLL staMP!!!Luis Genaro Garcia, first born to Immigrant parents, reflects his experiences, encounters, and his views on the transculturation of the always diversified Los Angeles through the use of the skelletal structure. Although Luis Genaro’s focus is to reflect his perspective's and beliefs one can automatically connect his work to the popular culture of “Dia de los muertos” . As a first generation Mexican -American living in Los Angeles Luis-Genaro recalls the challenges that come with being a minority, and the eldest in a single parent household; staying in school, harassment by both police and gangs, social injustice and inequalities. Luis-Genaro was also inspired by graffity art. His work is a combination of both backgrounds; a child raised in Mexico, and a teenager raised in South Los Angeles. It was through both these life experiences that Luis-Genaro developed his own style of art.Today Luis-Genaro, a resident of Whittier and an Art Teacher at his Alma Mater, Thomas Jefferson High school, focuses his time to educating and giving back to his community through the arts. Luis Genaro has exhibited work throughout southern california. Luis- Genaro’s inspiration comes from peoples responses to his art, “My main concern is to share the talent that god has blessed me with, to my students, the public, and the community that made me who I am today”.
