Here's a selection of different music projects I've worked on over the the years.
The Entwined was a band I played in during the early 90s in Canberra. The track '15' is on the compilation CD 'Embryo' released in 1992. Someone recently emailed me asking about this song, so here it is! Other members of the band were Graeme Cameron, Tim Coronel, Nadine Van Hasselt and Murray Schaeffer.
Cafe Voyeur was a sound installation I created with Matt Adair in 2004 for the Melbourne Fringe Festival. The two of us work together as City Frequencies. We recorded people's conversations at Kent St in Fitzroy with microphones hidden in vases of flowers. Using their voices we created an hour-long surround-sound installation. At the moment we are remixing Cafe Voyeur to make a DVD. This is a stereo-mix excerpt called 'Ages Like Years'.
Random Acts of Elevator Music is a collaboration between myself and Matt Adair, performing live improvised ambient electronic music. In the 2006 Melbourne Fringe Festival we performed live playing in office building lifts throughout the Melbourne CBD. We wandered around disguised as businessmen with our battery-powered equipment hidden in briefcases, making surprise performances in thirty-five buildings over two weeks. The track here has the full name of 'Their Eyes Met Across the Partition'.
Tiatto is a project I am working on with Adam Parker, Max Donnelly and Derek Supryka. We are recording an album which will be finished in early 2008. Various guests have contributed to the album, including Dave Graney, Monique Brumby, Adam Simmons, Rae Howell, Nick Pledge, Sam Wareing, Juliarna Cleale, Graeme Cameron, Hue Blanes and C Company. The track 'Veiled Machismo' features the vocals of Dave Graney.
Here's a clip for 'Neurosis' by my group Continuum, featuring myself aka n-Entropy and Graeme Cameron aka g-Quantum. This track was originally released on the Clan Analogue compilation 'Pre-Sense' and will be included on the forthcoming Clan Analogue release 'Re Cognition'. The clip includes footage from the Big Day Out Boiler Room in Sydney in 1996 plus the Gershwin Room at the Esplanade Hotel.
And here's a video of our City Frequencies performance at Loop in December 2007 for the Electundra Festival, performing a live remix of Cafe Voyeur:
