About Me

Starting out in a dimly lit bedroom, determined to teach herself guitar despite her somewhatsmallish hands, she picked up her grandmothers' Kalamazoo acoustic guitar and attempted tofinger pick a new Tommy Immanuel song. Giving up after a few weeks she decided there must bean easier way to learn and started strumming along to the radio - making up the chords to suit herears. To this day she's still completely unaware of what most of the chords she plays are, hey - if itsounds good, it is good...then you convince the band to write the charts, problem solved!
This was the start of the musical career that became Salty, pilfering her brothers' Readers DigestABBA boxed tape set she set about learning to sing and trained her ears to the intricacies of theproduction, as well as a tape deck will allow. Tinkering on her brothers computer when he was out one day (heaven help us all if he discovered),she wrote & produced her first song at 14...somewhat rigid and formulated but nevertheless a steptowards a career.
Distracted by various things, skateboards, DOS based computer games and tree climbing, shedidn't pick up the guitar again until she was 17, mainly because she sucked at it and piano waseasier plus it didn't make your fingers bleed.
One day her mum summoned the kids into the dining room and told them the incredibly sad storyof how their sister Elisa died. The same day she buried her mother, 2 year old Elisa came downsick. Out of town and in a fragile state she took her to the Natropath that had treated her mother foryears. Long story short, he gave her inappropriate medication and she died 2 weeks later. Her mother wasaccused of manslaughter and put on trial, all her friends and family except her sister disappeared.
At the conclusion of the case, the Natropath's lawer came up her and told her that his clientshould've been charged. With a 2 year suspended sentance over her head, both parents struggledwith the lack of support from any of their previous friends and moved to Adelaide for a fresh start.
Angry at the injustice and heartache her mother had gone through, Susi threw herself into hermusic. By now she was writing in her own style, influenced by a mixture of early musicals andobscure contemporary songs from her parents music library.
Fleeting glimpses still surface in the now recorded 2 albums - a hint of musicals and melody drivenindie/pop. Shaping the sound - Jarrad Payne, Robert Jarvis and Dylan Marshall propelled a solocareer into an immensly groovy band taking over where she left off.
