About Me
They started out as "London Disturbance Force." Four years later, the name has evolved and so has their music."When we were first playing together we had this weird mix of things all melded together," says LDF's drummer, Taylor Schaerer, musing on the bands sonic identity. "Now we know what we sound like."LDFs anti-pop mélange of metal-tinged, thrash-leaning, prog-punk is niftily captured in their self-titled debut, a hard and fast little EP featuring the punishing and propelling rhythms of Schaerer and bassist Karlin Prokopetz, the rawk-god guitar work of sisters Jess and Chrissy, and Jess's banshee vocals."Shes got a killer scream," Schaerer concurs."It always sounds better when youre screaming," agrees Prokopetz, congratulating her band mate. "You sound awesome, and you're so much fun to watch.""If you can't play well, play hard," the vocalist laughs, summing up her philosophy."And smash stuff," adds her sister. They classify their shows (and practices) as "high octane shenanigans" and describe some of their rock moves."Sometimes Chrissy and I have these massive guitar-offs, like in [Ralph Karate Kid Macchios dueling-guitar flic] Crossroads," says Jessica. "I win.""More like a pose-off," ribs Prokopetz."I still win," deadpans Cassady. "I think it's fun. We're not about cool. We just like to have fun. Everything we do sucks really bad."That's not true. Though LDF can be on the raw side, their EP demonstrates that they are well on their way to proficiency. Bryan Kulbas crisp production highlights LDF's strong points: the songs are swift and furious, awash in metal-licious riffs and urgent bass and drum lines, and Cassady's wailing overtop is nothing if not distinct. For the release show they promise their "usual mayhem," alongside performances of songs off the EP and some new material, and maybe even a couple covers, they are renowned for their good-bad versions of tunes by Skid Row, Venom, Motorhead, and other testosterone-laden fare."We do [Motorhead's] 'Killed by Death', Jess enthuses, giggling. "Kill, kill... death, death."LDF? Maybe it secretly means "Lemmy Ditties Forever."- CHRISTA OKEEFE (See Magazine)..This profile was edited with Thomas' myspace editor™ V2.5
