The Ember of Life

About Me

The First Effect is a band from Long Island NY that plays collaboration-type music. In resemblance to Linkin Park (who were the inspiration for the band) they use a variety of mixing, sound clips and their own unique style of music. Lyrically, the band has grown to a stage where they have lyrics that are as deep, if not, deeper into meaning than some of the songs performed by Flaw. All the lyrics were written by the band members themselves.
The beginnings of the band back in 1999, started out to be known as "X Infinity" a name that was assumed to stick with the band for a really long time. Until, one day the band members seperated and pursued their own dreams. Although the one band member, Gary, whose soul purpose was to get the band together, continued with his music writing. Shortly there-after, the band regrouped only a select few returned, thus only remaining with Matt, Joe and Gary with the exception of some other band members which grew as it's own seperate band to be called "Anger Management" which shortly after re-naming the band was changed due to the fact that the name was taken by numerous amount of bands already. So the band members decided on the name "State of Confusion" where they thought that was perfect for the bands name. One afternoon, Joe and Gary were having conversation where the discussion of the bands name came up. Gary implied how he believed the name of the band at that current state sounded much better as a CD title, although, if they named the CD their band name, they would need a band name still.
So from there on out, Joe and Gary were back at square one... working on figuring out a band name again. After long consideration of a new band name, everyone finally came to an agreement. They finally settled upon "The First Effect" which also represents the first reaction to things, first reactions to the different band names when they kept coming up with them, or how the band itself effected everyone's lives the moment we all realized we were part of it together.
Soon after the bands name was decided on and found out it was unique in every way, the band began practicing songs and recording. Eventually as time passed by, they had an incredibly tragic loss. The turn tablist/Sampler, Matt, and best friend of the band members passed away ever so suddenly. There were many plans on songs to dedicate to people during the making of the CD, although now the CD has been released dedicated to Matt and other people who have made a difference with the production of this CD. We are glad to make Matts dream come true and finally release the CD and dedicate the CD to his memory.
The First Effect now works on their second CD titled "The Ember of Life".
