Reality is grim, accept it, and things really aren't so bad.

About Me

I am called David, Dave, Stretch, Big Pappa!, Lurch, and Felix the cat. I call myself friendly, outgoing, passionate, and an ogre. I would describe myself as stubborn, sensitive, passionate, intense, and I wear my heart on my sleeve. I fall hard, and laugh harder (and louder). Life is my oyster, and so far I seem to be allergic to seafood but man does it taste good. I'm a red blooded American, and bleed blue for my brothers and sisters. I'm a closet country boy from the suburbs, with champagne taste on a beer budget. I love life, and it hates me back, but I still love it.All that describes me, but my favorite indicator of my character was shared to me by a very close friend. Speaking of his three and five year old daughters he said, "I hope my daughters grow up and marry a guy like you."I've been in AZ a year now and miss all of those close friends dearly, my family back home, my brothers in arms, large bodies of water, sleep, and all of those old familiar faces. Here I've met some great people that are becoming true friends. I love the weather, even the sweltering heat. I love my job and can't wait to go to work and stay there for as long as possible (which is limited to 16 hours fortunately).Other than that all I have left to do is thank God, so thank you God!..

My Interests

Sports, playing and watching. Working out, preferably not alone. Travelling, I'm hoping for a quick jaunt to Hawaii soon, a couple of trips home, and one big trip to either Australia, Europe, or China sometime in the next 2 years. Reading current events, history, and sci-fi.

I'd like to meet:

Someone outgoing, balanced, quick-witted, athletic, positive, easygoing, crazy in a good way (not, "hello Clarice" from Silence of the Lambs crazy) adventurous, absolutely loves to travel, and is always up for a challenge.

Music:

I'm an eclectic listener. To be fair, in my CD player in my car is Kieth Urban, Barenaked Ladies, Taylor Swift, Killswitch Engage, and Sugarland.

Movies:

I love movies. If you want to see one, I'll probably want to see it, so drop me a line.

Television:

The ONLY shows worth watching on network TV is The Simpsons, Family Guy, and South Park. Yet HBO dominates my viewing pleasure with Entourage, Rome, Sopranos and Band of Brothers. Otherwise, I can't stand commercials, so I don't watch much.

Books:

Most recent, Flags of our Fathers. Great book. Others are Lovely Bones, Bullet Proofing Your Mind, and C.S. Lewis', Mere Christianity, The Four Loves, and The Problem of Pain.

Heroes:

JFK, Winston Churchill, Teddy Roosevelt, Michael the Archangel, and the best for last, my parents.

Look into the future

When I was four my dad would ask me what I wanted to be when I grow up.  I would always say, "When I grow up...".  And that was it, I'd get lost in thought, or simply have no idea. Here I am,...

Ditch the dish...and cable.

I have for a very short time been without television.  If you've gasped at that statement you most certainly need to read on.  If you've gasped at that statement because you know me, then I ...

First off, the media now adays is so negative.  All you hear about is death, destruction, failure, and who's to blame or who they think is to blame.  Case in point, the war in Iraq.  I ...

Same Old Love

In a time lacking strife, or knowledge, or fear, where life was simple, and our purpose was clear,a man lived his life within ignorance and bliss, but he knew something was odd, slightly off, and a...
