i knew i wanted to play the piano the first time i saw Sha-na-na on television when i was a kid. i was 6, and i haven't changed my mind yet.
i also just released my new album, Set On a Hill, produced by Will Ackerman of Windham Hill Records at his studio in Vermont. i'm extremely excited to have Will work on this project. the fact that he produced all of the George Winston albums as well as many Michael Hedges albums makes me realize how fortunate i am to be working with such a creative talent. Set on a Hill is available on iTunes and everywhere else digitally.
i was touring the globe with Julio Iglesias in 2007 while also continuing my passion for scoring television and film. it's amazing what a laptop on the road can do. i also just finished scoring the film Doughboys, written, directed and featuring Louis Lombardi (Edgar from 24) and Vincent Pastore (The Sopranos). While working on the feature, I also scored a tv pilot which turned out to be really incredible. i hope the pilot takes off. i'll keep you posted. for now, the details are under wraps.....sorry folks. all the while, working on more commercial work for television and film.
i led a piano trio for a number of years, the Chad Lawson Trio, and released two albums on Summit Records. Dear Dorothy; the Oz Sessions debuted on the national jazz charts, featured us in Starbucks retail stores across the country, and placed us on Dawson's Creek where we performed three of my original compositions. Unforeseen, our sophomore album, jumped to 8 on the national charts and allowed us to tour even more so. With all that's currently going on, the trio is on hiatus. Though the three of us look forward to seeing the red light in a studio turn on again.
i also had the awesome, awesome privileged to play on Jason Upton's album, Beautiful People, which was released this year on Integrity Music (thank you Al). i love Jason and his band. if you're not familiar with them, please check them out. they're listed in my top 8.
