Influences: The goal of Total Fest is to bring new, weird and exciting music to Western Montana. Total Fest is volunteer run, not-for-profit and DIY.TOTAL FEST DECISION MAKING PROCESS OUTLINED:The Total Fest organizing committee selects bands democratically (using a secret ballot) with a couple of exceptions: 1) bands on the Wantage USA label are considered first, and 2) organizers, if we agree unanimously, may occasionally choose to waive a rule because we feel particularly strongly about having a band play. Festival organizers who are particularly familiar with a band are encouraged to contextulize, explain, and talk about any band that has submitted in any way they want.Generally speaking in consideration of our primary goal (to bring new and exciting music to Western Montana) beginning in 2007 no band may play more than two consecutive Total Fests.Total Fest depends on lots of diverse support which historically has come from bands, businesses, organizations and individuals. Sponsorships, support and donations to Total Fest are accepted as free-will and support the event and its mission. Decisions are not effected by donations or other support.Total Fest organizers take the job of selecting bands seriously. Bands rise to the top fairly, and the job of whittling down is not an easy one. Bands who are not selected are encouraged to re-submit the following year, and understand that they are invited to attend, and have fun, and that there are on average three times more applicants than there are slots to play. Good, clear, loud recordings are helpful.
Sounds Like: Rob Halford fronting Gang of Four, only with a drum machine, which happens to have been programmed by... Neil Peart, but Neil from back in the mustache days, you know. And instead of Geddy, there's more of a like a "Les" deal going on you, know? No, seriously, not so much a "Les" deal as a "Phil" deal, and you know, kind of a electro-clash cum blast beat thing, you know, like if Slayer and Peaches totally had kids, and those kids were like dirty rap metal satanic folks who dropped all kinds of f-bombs and s-like that. No, you know, the bastard love child of... like waaaaay early Zappa crossed with like some of the pre-ZZ-Top Moving Sidewalks stuff, you know. Fully.
