About Me

•‘I Blame Baltimore’ is the first solo effort from Sebastian Blanck, a founding member of the noise band Black Dice. Inspired by American Folk music, Blanck moved from the psychedelic sound and primal rhythms of his former band to a quieter, lyric-driven set of rock songs.•Blanck wrote these four songs in his painting studio on a lake in upstate New York. Moved by the rural music of The Band, the folk rock songs of The Byrds and the finger picking style of John Fahey, Blanck draws on a rustic sound to articulate his feelings of being a “city kid” out of the city.•In Blanck’s music, the rock ballad is also key. He draws inspiration from bands like Big Star, Moby Grape, Belle & Sebastian and Roy Orbison. Working with producer Jorge Elbrecht, the songs swell and diminish while maintaining a strong but intimate feeling throughout. In this four song EP, Blancks’ highly personal narratives seductively unfold amidst lush harmonies and beautiful instrumentation.
