The Wilderness are all about the blues... with swing in its step and dirt on its face.
When Luke and Harry first started jamming it was all they could really play, so they did. 12 bar blues on piano and an old acoustical guitar. Exploring the blues took alot of searching, drinking, thinking and listening. John Lee Hooker, The Doors, The Stones, The Ramones, Aerosmith, Nirvana, Rage, Kings of Leon... its all there somewhere.
Realising along the way it sounds alot better when they play in the same key, songs were written, drums added and gigs played. As a Trio The Wilderness blossomed and the addition of Luke's brother Sneaky D on bass saw a young sapling with a chip on its shoulder evolve into a dark, loud, reeking mess of forest with a severe case of the blues.
Currently riding high off the success of the launch of 'Cheats' The Wilderness are here to spread their roots into the ground water, suck it up and give it back to the people stronger, smoother and a whole lot tastier.
"The performance of title track Cheats (Sneaks, Thieves and Crooks) more than lived up to its recording, and Desperate Man was a refreshing touch of the smooth blues, featuring tinkling piano and the crooning vocals of Luke Scales. Most impressive was this band's commitment to their measured show, never under or overdone; The Wilderness cooked up their rock blues just right." XPress Magazine
