The Young Prince

About Me

Nineteen Ninety Three (1993) marks the beginning of Monumental’s Career. It began with a set of turntable, a tape deck, an old school Gemini mixer and a Six year old. At the age of six DJ Monumental felt that he could make remixes of popular records just like the ones he would hear on mix tapes and the radio, by blending the accapellas off the tape deck, with an instrumental playing on the turntable. This is the foundation, the originality and spontaneity that Monumental brings to the turntables every time he gets on the set. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Monumental was exposed to the DJ culture early in life. For the first six years of his life he watched his Farther set up shop every weekend and tear it down. Witnessing the control his Farther had over the crowd and the way he made everybody enjoy themselves, He knew it was something that he wanted to do. Incredibly, that’s exactly what he did. Monumental began like most local DJs - spinning at house parties and making mix tapes for friends at school. It was not until Monumental reached college that he began to focus on reaching a broader audience. As soon as the opportunity arose, Monumental join forces with Get Wet Entertainment (January 2006) and began to DJ Nemours college events. However, the drive did not end there. The momentum he gained from doing weekly college events helped him secure performances at numerous college campuses including, but not limited to, S.U.N.Y Old Westbury, S.U.N.Y Stony Brook, Binghamton, S.U.N.Y Buffalo, Long Island University, New York Institute of Technology, and many more. Monumental decided it was time to step it up a notch once more. He began producing mix tapes that have now become nearly cult classics. Such mix tapes include King of the Dancehall Series, Mission Impossible series, the Unstoppable Series and his newly release double CD mixtape “Enough is Enough/Mission Accomplished”. In addition to producing his own mix tapes, newfound exposure also helped make Monumental a featured DJ on the New York club circuit. You name it and he has done it – Sobe Live, Platinum, Love, Republican Gardens, BVLD,Club Sol, Mars 2112, Worth Lounge, Blagio, Amazura, Elite Ark, C-Pac Intrigue, 2686, Vain, Aqua, Sambuca, Rapture, Peppers, V, Fahrenhiet, TNY, Deep, the list goes on and on, but it doesn’t stop there. Monumental has also been putting it down nationally, (i.e. Miami, Philadelphia, Virginia, Washington DC, New Jersey, Boston) and internationally, spinning hits in Canada, St. Thomas, and Jamaica, to name a few. In this day in age, it is very rare that you come across a DJ like Monumental. Playing everything from Hip Hop to R&B, Reggae to Rock and Classics his versatile and creative DJ style allows him to adapt to any crowd and ensures that everyone will have a good time. Although lately he’s been busy while doing numerous parties, sometimes 2 3 per night, and traveling. Monumental has launched a Radio Station in junction with his University NYIT.
