Hey, Dad. It's Sam. Uh, you probably won't even get this, but, uh, it's Dean. He's sick, and uh the

About Me

When Sam Winchester was an infant, and his brother, Dean, was four years old, their mother, Mary, was murdered. Her husband, John, saw blood dripping onto Sam's cradle, looked up, and found his wife pinned to the ceiling, her midsection sliced open. A moment later she burst into flames. John told Dean to take baby Sam outside and made a desperate and futile attempt to save his wife while the house was consumed by flames. After a psychic told John that a demon was responsible for Mary's death, he became obsessed with finding the thing. He trained his sons to recognise and defend themselves against paranormal entities. Sam and Dean became resourceful sleuths and competent fighters in order to assist their father in his quest to destroy dangerous creatures and find the demon that had killed Mary.
Sam eventually had a falling out with his father and left to live a "normal" life. He attended prestigious Stanford University on a full scholarship and lived with a girlfriend, Jessica, in an apartment near campus. Then one autumn night in Sam's senior year, Dean appeared with the news that their father had gone missing while on a "hunting trip." Sam reluctantly agreed to help Dean look for their father.
The brothers traced John to Jericho, California, where they found more clues about their father's location and helped solve a murder mystery. But Sam declined his brother's invitation to continue the search and conduct more hunts, opting instead to return to his life with Jessica. Unfortunately, shortly after arriving in his apartment he found her pinned to the bedroom ceiling and bleeding from the abdomen. As Sam watched helplessly, she burst into flames.
Dean rescued his brother from the burning apartment, and the bereaved Sam decided to resume the search for the demon who killed his mother and his girlfriend. The Winchester boys then picked up the trail of clues leading to the whereabouts of their missing father.
They met up with their father again after months of searching when they were caught up in megs trap. Meg was something that the boys hadn't seen coming she was something evil and treacherous that had slipped the radar. After almost being ripped appart by the daeva's that meg had in her control they went back to their motel room only to find a mysterious character standing at their window in the dark, turning on the lights they found out to their surprise that it was in fact the man they had been searching for all along their father. He had come to chicago knowing full well that it was a trap but he had stayed back only to step out in time to see the bad guy take a swan dive. Sam felt at odds he knew that he was happy to see his father but the again he also had fresh in his memory the huge falling out that they had once had. He wasn't too in for the whole reunion thing not until his father spoke to him did sam see the regret that filled the mans eyes. He buckled and finally gave into the urge to be happy that they were once again a family or at least some resemalence of one.
After hugging something took their father and made it apparent that the reunion wasn't going to be a happy one not by far. The daeva's were still around and using the get together to their advantage going after john and attacking sam and dean once again. Luckily sam was able to muster up all of his strength and wit pulling off a way to make the daeva's go away at least long enough for them to get out of their before they came back to finish the job. Sam knew that things weren't all going to be okay he hated the fact that dean was so adimant that their father take off on his own once again leaving the boys to travel the roads without him. He knew that dean was right though in his heart he knew that they were the one weakness that their father had and right now weaknesses were a bad thing. Watching as his father drove off perhaps for the last time sam looked ahead ready to get out of that town and move on to the next hunt.
The next few hunts were filled with no meg which in sams eyes was a good thing, it gave them time to regroup. Hell house was something that made sam wonder if things exsisted only because people believed in them . The house was just a normal house it wasn't really haunted by an entity per say these kids had thought it would be funny to start up a rumor in which someone had been murdered there, they had placed symbols all along the walls from record albums that they had in their possession. Too bad they didnt realize that they had put one symbol in paticular on one of the walls, it was the symbol of a Golem. With the other people that were hosting the website that was focused on the hell house it gave the symbol power. It was able to focus peoples belief power and make the legend come to life. Everytime new imformation was put up on the site the golem would change to fit the belief. Luckily sam and dean were able to pass on some bogus information to the kids but unfortunaly the server had crashed before they had been able to upload it this meant that they weren't going to be able to use the old standby shotgun with rocksalt in it. After wrestling with the creature dean finally decided to set the house on fire to rid them of the golem once and for all. As they stood there watching the house burn down it gave sam many things to think about.
On the next journey they found a cursed painting, it also led sam to sarah. Sarah blake was the daughter of Daniel blake who owned the auction house that had first sold the painting to the new victims. The couple had been found in their house with their throats slit and no sign of forced entry. Sam had to use sarah to get ahold of the provenance's, that way he and dean would be able to track down the previous owners and see if they had something to do with the names in their fathers journal. It turned out that there was a connection between the past deaths and the sale of the painting it was afterall cursed. They had assumed that it was the father that had been haunting the painting so they found his bones and burned them setting him free from the painting, but what they didn't realize was that he had been watching over his little daughter in the painting she in fact was the real culprit. She had been the one to murder her family, after they believed that they had saved the day sam and sarah went back to the house to grab the painting , that was were they found out who the real killer was, she had come out of the painting once more to go after sarah and sam. At first the rock salt made her go away but then she returned with a vengence, sam being knocked down and pinned down watched helplessly as the ghost went after sarah. He was angry and pissed off but there was nothing he could do but hope that dean made it to the crypt in time to destroy the body. Of course the body was ashes but the doll that the little girl carried had some of her hair so in destroying the doll they were able to rid themselves of her. After everything sam and sarah were forced to once again say goodbye, of course sam didn't at first get close to her but as he left walking away from her door he realized that he had to take a chance. Walking back up to the door he knocked and waited for her to open it taking her in the long embrace that he had so longed to do before.
Next came the trip to colorado to look into the death of daniel elkins, who they later found out was a vampire hunter friend of their fathers. Daniel had been ambused and the vamps had killed him taking a special gun, the gun was rumored to kill anything supernatural or not. The legend says that it was a colt gun made in 1835 by Sam colt for a hunter just like them. It was said that he forged 13 bullets a few of them had been used before not but there were enough let to perhaps kill the demon that the boys and john had been hunting after for so long. John and the boys finalize their plans and Sam realizes John is planning on leaving again once the gig is over. He wants to take the gun and fight the demon on his own. Sam and Dean are mad, they tell their dad theyre not kids anymore and they should all kill the demon together. They argue a little but John says he cant watch his kids die. Dean says Sam is right, theyre stronger as a family, but still John tells them to do their job on this gig and then leave neither one of the boys are to happy about this. After they finally get the colt back and destroy luther the head vampire john realizes that the boys are right that they are much stronger as a family and with that they take off together.
In between trips we met up with riley her family had been murdered and she became part of our disfunctional family I don't know what we would have done without her. Shes kept us sane and kept me in stitches helping me pick on dean, shes the sister that I had always hoped for.
the next stop salvation Iowa
Meg kills a friend of the familys, his name is jim and he is a pastor friend of johns. John is upset by this and tells the boys that it ends tonight , he tells them before he finds out about the friends death all about how the demon is killing. It is going after familys with babies that are exactly to the day 6months old. Sam is upset finding out that was how old he was when his mother was killed and he thinks that its his fault. John tells them that there are signs before the demon comes, cattle deaths and electrical storms, there were signs before their mother died and then the same thing right before jess was killed. They have to go to salvation iowa thats were its heading next.
they get a call from meg shes at calebs( another one of johns close friends)home she threatens to kill him if they don't turn over the colt. john agrees but its too late she slit calebs throat, she threats before he agrees that she would go after anyone that knows him, has helped in him any way giving him shelter or what not. She won't stop killing them till he hands it over. She wants him to meet her at a warehouse by himself no sam or dean. John decides that he is going to try and pass of a fake gun , nobody besides the vamps and the winchesters have seen the gun so he thinks that it might work. He tells the boys that there are only 4 bullets left in the gun and when they are gone the gun is useless so to be careful with the shots.John tells the boys to be careful and take care and they say their goodbyes.
They need to find all of the infants in the area that are going to be 6months to the day, sam has a vision as they are all searching and he sees the family and sees it happening. He finds the family and talks to the woman saying that he just moved in down the street, the woman is walking her baby in a stroller and they stop and chat. Sam notices what a good baby rose is( thats the baby's name) and the mother tells him how she never cries and that sometimes when she looks at them she almost thinks that she can read their minds. Sam and dean later wait outside the home trying to think of something to get the family out sam says that they could always say there was a gas leak. Dean says that never works for them and then sam says we could tell them the truth and they both look at each other and say no that never works. they only have one option and that is to wait until the demon shows itself and hope that they are able to kill it in time. Dean tells sam how he wishes that they were with john right now to back him up and sam tells dean that he wishes so badly that he was there to back them up.
As they are sitting waiting for it to go down sam thanks dean for everything, its a real hallmark moment as he speaks. Dean tells him to shut up and not even to say if anything happens to him because nobody is dying tonight not them not the family only the demon. Sitting in the car theres a disturbance on the radio it starts to go fuzzy and the lights start to flicker, the wind picks up, the boys know that its there. They take action going into the home getting attacked by the husband , dean pushes the husband to the wall telling him to shhh that they are there to help them. Sam hears the wife and goes up just in time as the demon appears and has her on the ceiling, he takes aim and shoots but the demon disappears. Dean comes up grabs the baby and sam helps the mother out of the home out to where the husband is and the husband is pissed he tries to attack them but she tells him they saved them. Watching as the home is on fire sam sees the demon in the window he wants to go after it but dean won't let him. hes willing to sacrifice himself to end it tonight but dean says no. Dean tells him it would be suicide and sam tells him he doesn't care. Dean tells him that he does care.
John is at the warehouse waiting for meg he sets up traps, the cross in the water silo making holy water. After meeting with her he finds out that she isn't alone there is a another with her . She tells him to hand over the gun and he does as told. She shows the other man with her and the other man takes the gun and aims it at meg and shoots her. Shes pissed that shes been shot but it proves that the gun is a fake. John is in trouble he takes off running down a tunnel and to the end where he turns on the water, the two come after him laughing almost at the water until the one man steps into it and he starts to burn . Stepping back they look at him and meg says "Holy water real cute john" john runs off out to his truck only to find that the tires have been slit so there is no escape. He runs to the back and is thrown against the wall by the man pinned against it.
cut to the motel room where the boys are sitting sam is still pissed off that he couldn't end it all tonight. Hes pissed at dean for not letting him go in there. He tells dean that it killed jess and their mother and he could have killed it. Dean tells him how ridiculous he sounds that he once told him that they were dead and that nothing could bring them back .Sam gets more pissed and lunges at dean pushing him against the wall getting in his face. Dean tells him that if it takes him dying for them to kill the demon he hopes that they never find the damn thing. He doesn't want to lose sam all he has left is sam and his father its the only family he has now. Dean is still trying to call their father but he isn't awnsering, finally sam tells him to try it again after they stop arguing and meg picks up telling them that they screwed up big time. Dean asks where his father is and then they go to bobby's house to ask for help.
While at bobby's they get a party crasher meg thinks that she has the upper hand with us but she is right where we wanted her. Trapped we begin to trie and get out fathers whereabouts excorising the demon inside of the girl knowing full well that it would mean her death. After finding out where he is being kept we went to rescue him crawling down the fire escape being chased I unfortunately was attacked if it wasn't for dean using the colt I would have been dead. Making it back to a cabin in the middle of nowhere we find out that dad isn't okay, he's possessed by the demon that we had been searching for all along and he almost kills dean. Betrayal is all that goes through my mind as the foul demon tells us that we've killed his family and why he killed jess and mom. Its because of me , because they were in the way, its my fault.
After the struggle and almost losing dean I shot dad in the leg making the demon leave, dad begged for me to shoot him but I couldn't do that losing him wasn't worth it not now not ever. Driving away I knew that he was so disappointed in me but I reassured him that we could start over we still had some bullets and that we would find the demon once more. After that its a blur we were hit by a truck...I woke up to find not only was my father not moving but dean wasn't making a sound in the back and the truck driver was still possessed I threatened him with the colt but he called my bluff.
The air lifted us taking us to the hospital I had no idea how dean and my father were what their condition was ...I had to find out. p Reaching the hospital after being checked out I was okay but dean on the other hand he was fighting for his life. My father had woken up he was doing well and was going to make it. I couldn't believe that all he could think about was the colt and the demon I knew that this hunt was something that I at one time was obssessed about but with deans life hanging in the balance he was all that I could think about not some silly revenge...if i lost him i would be alone.
Little did I know that dean was having a problem of his own that he was meeting up with a reaper once more it seems that it was his time to go but that wasn't what was going to happen dad made sure of that. He summoned up the demon and made a bargin with it that he would trade himself for dean.. i should have known the moment he asked me to stop fighing with him i could hear it in his voice now that i look back..I should have known...now hes gone...I don't know what how we're going to go on without him but we must.
Medford, Wisconsin (At Cooper's Circus) This episode opens at Cooper Circus. The place is crowded with families, rides, and freak shows. One little girl in particular sticks out of the crowd, notices a clown behind one of the booths waving to her. “Mommy look look, it’s another clown” But by the time she gets her parents attention, the clown vanished. As they’re driving home from the circus, the little girls sees the clown again off the side of the road in the shadows, waving at her. Later that evening as the girl is tucked in her bed, she notices a strange shadow on her ceiling coming from the window. She gets out of bed and walks over to the window and sees the clown waving at her from the front lawn. The girl walks downstairs, unlocks the front door, and invites the clown into the house. The clown takes her by the hand as he steps inside, shutting the door behind him.
Location Unknown Sam and Dean stand beside each other very emotionally as they watch the dads remains burn into ashes. Sam asks Dean if dad said anything to him before he died. Struggling to give a response, Dean, with a lump in his throat, replies, “no”.
Bobby’s (one week later) Dean’s working hard on repairing the Impala. It’s been a slow process, but work is being accomplished. Dean’s getting very frustrated with Sam because he keeps asking Dean if he’s all right. Sam’s a bit surprised that Dean hasn’t shown the least interest in trying to hunt this demon since their dad died. Dean says they can’t hunt this demon because they’ve got no lead on where it is and they’ve lost the only leverage they had on killing this damn thing, the colt. Sam tells Dean that he retrieved a voicemail message on one of their dad’s old cells phones that’s four months old, from a woman named Ellen saying, “Hey John it’s Ellen, look don’t be stubborn, you know I can help you. Call me.”
Roadhouse Sam was able to trace an address from the number, which leads them to what appears to be an abandoned roadhouse in the middle of nowhere. Sam and Dean are temporarily driving a minivan, which was the only running vehicle Bobby had. “God this is humiliating. FEEL LIKE A FRICKIN SOCCER MOM!” The boys enter the roadhouse, and the only person present appears to be knocked out cold. As they continue to explore the roadhouse, Ellen and her daughter Jo approach them with rifles. Sam and Dean discover that this roadhouse is a meeting place for other Supernatural hunters like themselves. They tell Ellen about their dad’s death and she tells them that Ash can help track the demon. While Dean talks to Ellen's daughter Jo, (and for once doesn't try to chat a gal up) Sam notices a folder behind the bar and asks Ellen if he could look at it. The folder contains an unsolved police case that occurred not far from the roadhouse. Sam and Dean agree to go check out this case.
On the road Sam looking over the details of this case explains to Dean that there have several murders over the past month in this small town, with the most recent murder occurring last week. The suspect is said to be disguised as a clown from Cooper’s Circus. He left the daughter unharmed and murdered the parents (ripping them to shreds). The cops have no viable lead. All the employees at the circus were tearing down equipment at the time of the murder, and the girl claims to have seen a clown vanish into thin air. However, the cops are saying that it’s trauma. Similar murders occurred back in 1981 at Bunker Brothers Circus (same deal). Usually spirits are settled in a particular location. Sam and Dean believe that a cursed object could be leading this spirit to move from city to city.
Funhouse (at Cooper’s Circus) Evan and his dad walk through the fun house. Evan is playing a videogame, not showing any interest in the funhouse. As Evan continues to walk through the funhouse, he notices a clown in one of the mirrors waving to him. Evan runs to his dad and says that he saw a scary clown. His dad tries to calm him down by telling him that clowns are his friends and that there’s nothing to be scared of. The next morning at Evan’s house, Evan walks into his parents’ room, waking his dad up. “Dad, you were right, he is my friend.” Looking at up Evan, his dad sees the evil clown standing at his bedside holding Evan’s hand and starts screaming.
Cooper’s Circus If a cursed object is dragging the clown from place to place, they’re going to have to EMF scan the entire carnival, but Sam says, “That’s like trying to find a needle in a stack of needles. It could be anything.” Sam and Dean decide to get jobs at the circus so they will blend in with the crowd. While looking for Mr. Cooper, Sam and Dean encounter a blind man throwing knives.
After leaving Mr. Cooper’s office, Dean asks Sam whether he really meant what he told Cooper about not wanting to go back to school. Sam tells Dean that he’s been having second thoughts, thinking that their dad would want him and Dean to stick together and like Dean said once, “it will never be over. There will always something to hunt.”
Later, while litter picking (their job for Cooper) the boys split up and start scanning around the carnival with their EMF’s, but find nothing. When they meet up again by the funhouse, they notice a little girl telling her mom, “Mommy look at the clown!” But Sam and Dean see nothing. They believe that this little girl is the spirit’s next victim. They decide to stake out her house that night, to make sure she’s all right. While watching the house, they see the girl open the front door and take someone invisible to them by the hand and they walk upstairs, heading for her parents’ room. They manage to break into the house in time to stop the clown and fire a few rounds of rock salt into the clown, but the clown still manages to escape.
On the road Sam and Dean ditch the minivan off the side of an empty road, fearing that the girl’s parents saw their license plates. Sam confronts Dean about his strong silence towards their dad’s death. Dean, very pissed off again tells Sam that he fine and that the next person who asks him if he’s ok, he’s going to start “throwing punches”. Dean finds it weird that Sam spent his entire life fighting with him, and now he wants to do what he would’ve wanted. Dean says it’s too late.
Sam calls Ellen and asks her opinion on this killer clown. She says her best guess would be that it’s a rakshasa. It’s a race of Hindu creatures that take on human form and feed on human flesh. They can make themselves look invisible and they can’t enter home without first being invited. Rakshasas live in squalor, sleeping on a bed of dead insects. They have to feed a few times every 20 to 30 years, which would explain the murders at Bunker Brothers Circus back in 81. Ellen also tells Sam that the one sure way to kill it is by using a dagger of pure brass. They think that Cooper is the spirit because he did work at both shows.
Cooper’s Circus Dean visits the blind man they met earlier thinking, he might have a dagger of brass. Meanwhile, Sam sneaks into Cooper’s office looking for “bed bugs” and is caught by Cooper at gunpoint. The blind man invites Dean into his office and asks him to open the trunk in the corner. When Dean opens it, he finds the clown suit, realizing that it’s the blind man. Looking back, Dean watches as the blind man vanishes into thin air and starts throwing knives at Dean, but he bursts out of his office, without getting hit.
Funhouse Sam and Dean head into the funhouse to try and trap the blind man. However, the blind man made himself invisible to them and starts throwing knives once again at Dean. Sam breaks a brass piece of the organ off and when he sneaks up behind Sam, he spikes the brass metal into the blind man. In the midst of all the steam in the room, we hear the blind man screaming as he decomposes into a pill of dust.
Roadhouse Back at the roadhouse, Ellen is very pleased with the boys work on this case. “Your dad would be proud of ya.” Meanwhile Ash, who’s been tracking the demon for the past 51 hours, tells Sam and Dean that the demon is nowhere to be found. However, if any of the signs (cattle mutilations and electrical storms) pop up in another city, he will know about it. He said he’ll call them when he hears anything. Jo also tells Dean she'd like to see him again, even after he confesses normally he'd be hitting on her but this is the 'wrong time, wrong place.'
Bobby’s Place Dean is once again working on repairing the Impala. Sam approaches him to apologize for trying to pick a fight with their dad the last time he saw him. For all he knows, their dad died thinking that Sam hated him. He also realizes that what he’s doing is too little, and that it’s too late to make up for the things in the past. Sam says that he feels “guilty as hell” and that he’s not all right. But also tells Dean that neither is he. After Sam walks away, in the midst of the silence, Dean takes a crow bar and smashes the glass of the door of one of the scrap cars, then the Impala’s trunk, with all his strength, finally releasing all the anger and emotion that was built up inside of him.
After fighting hunters like gordon finding the roadhouse where ellen and jo reside and finding that some vampires aren't like the ones that we've come across before a secret was let lose one that my father burdened dean with ...He told him that someday he might have to kill me that someday I might not be the same sam.
The Inn A delivery truck pulls up to the Pierpont Inn. Inside, a woman and a man are walking up the stairs, the woman says “Most of the stuff is up here.” “I still can’t believe they’re closing this place,” says the man. “You know my parents got engaged here. My grandparents, too.” “A lot of people did,” she says. “The boxes are at the end of the hall. Need any help?” He says he’s fine and goes on by himself. Two little girls are sitting at the top of the stairs, and one says “He’s gonna take our toys?” “Only the ones you don’t play with anymore,” her mother says. “It’s not like you don’t have enough already.” “Son of a bitch,” says the other little girl sitting there. “Son of a bitch,” copies the first, Tyler. “Watch your mouth,” says her mother. “Maggie said it first,” the Tyler quickly says. “Watch your mouth, too, Maggie,” says the mother.
Tyler’s room Tyler goes into her room and over to a big dollhouse. Her entire room has dolls in it. She puts one of the dolls into a chair and then goes on to put more of them into their beds, saying good night to them as she does. Then she goes back and sees that the chair is now empty. She looks around the house and then finds the doll lying at the bottom of the stairs with its head twisted around. She hears a scream outside her room.
Her mother is on the phone, talking to someone urgently. The packing man is next to her on the floor at the bottom of the stairs. He’s dead, his head twisted around. There is a doll lying next to him. Her mother tells her not to look, but she stays anyway.
Motel Peoria, Illinois. There are missing posters of Ava Wilson on the walls of the motel. Sam is talking to Ellen on his cellphone as Dean comes in. “Okay, thanks Ellen,” says Sam, hanging up. Dean asks what she had to say, and Sam replies nothing, and me, I’ve been checking every database I can think of, Federal state and local. Nobody’s heard anything about Ava. She just… into thin air, you know. What about you?” “No, same as before. Sorry man,” replies Dean, handing him a coffee. “Ellen did have one thing,” says Sam. “A hotel in Cornwall, Connecticut. Two freak accidents in the past three weeks.” “Yeah, what does that have to do with Ava?” asks Dean, walking over to his bed. “It’s a job,” Sam replies. “A lady drowned in the bathttub, and then a few days ago, a guy falls down the stairs, head turns a complete 180. Which isn’t exactly normal, you know? Look, I don’t know, Dean. It might be nothing. But I told Ellen we’d think about checking it out.” “You did?” Dean says, taking off his jacket and sittting down. “You seem surprised,” says Sam. “Well yeah it’s just, you know, it’s not the patent Sam Winchester way, is it?” Dean answers. “What way is that?” asks Sam. “I just figured after Ava, there’d be – uh, more angst, and uh, droopy music, and staring out the rainy windows… yeah I’ll shut up now,” he finishes, seeing Sam’s unamused look. “I’m the one who told her to go back home,” says Sam, standing up. “And now her fiance’s dead and some demon has taken her off to God knows where, you know? We’ve been looking for a month now, and we’ve got nothing. So I’m not giving up on her, but I’m not going to let other people die either. We gotta save as many people as we can.” “Wow,” says Dean. “That attitude is just way too healthy for me. I’m officially uncomfortable now. Thank you.” He looks at Sam for a minute, and then says for him to call Ellen and tell her they’ll take the job.
The Inn Sam and Dean are getting out of the car in front of the inn. “Dude, this is sweet!” says Dean enthusiastically. “We never get to work jobs like this.” “Like what?” asks Sam. “Old school haunted houses! Fog, secret passage ways… sissy British accents…” Dean replies as they head up to the door. “Hey, wait second,” says Sam before Dean knocks. “I’m not so sure haunted’s the problem.” “What do you mean?” asks Dean. “See this pattern here?” says Sam, pointing at a pattern on the top of one of the urns. He says it’s a five-spot. “Five-spot?” says Dean. “That’s used for Hoodoo spellwork, isn’t it?” Sam says yeah, if you fill it with bloodweed you have a powerful charm to ward off enemies. Dean says he doesn’t see any bloodweed. “Don’t you think this place is a little too – uh – white-meat for Hoodoo?” Sam shrugs. “Maybe.”
Inside the Inn Inside the woman, Susan, comes out and asks them if she can help them. “Yeah, we’d like a room for a couple of nights,” says Dean. Maggie and Tyler come running out of a side door and accidentally run into Sam. Susan apologizes, and Sam says it’s no problem. “Well, congratulations,” says Susan. “You could be some of our final guests.” Dean chuckles a little and replies, “That sounds vaguely ominous.” “No, I’m sorry, I mean we’re closing at the end of the month,” Susan corrects, then looks at them. “Let me guess. You guys are here antiquing?” Dean blinks at her for a second, but Sam nods and Dean asks her how she knew. “Oh, you just look the type,” she smiles. “So, uh, king sized bed?” Dean gapes at her for a second before Sam speaks up and says, “Uh no, no, two singles, we’re just brothers.” “Oh,” she says. “I’m so sorry.” “What’d you mean we looked the type?” asks Dean, but Sam quickly cuts in and asks her about the urn on the front porch, asking her where she got it. She answers she doesn’t know, it’s been there forever. She hands Dean the key, and asks Sherwin, an older man in a suit, to show them to their rooms, and he immediately smiles and says, “Let me guess – antiquers?”
They walk up the stairs, Sherwin pulling all their bags behind him. Dean asks if he wants some help but he replies no. Sam comments about the hotel closing, and Sherwin starts telling them about how it used to look like a palace. He says two different vice presidents were there, his parents worked there, and he practically grew up there. He says he’s going to miss it, and then unlocks their door for them. They go in and when Dean turns to shut the door, Sherwin is still standing there, his hand out. “You’re not going to cheat out on me, are you boy?” Dean sighs and reaches for his wallet.
The boys’ room Sam is looking at some papers as Dean is exploring the room. “What the -,” he says, looking up at a large dress hanging on the wall. “What?” asks Sam. “That’s normal,” replies Dean. “Why would anyone stay here? I’m surprised they kept in business this long.” “Alright, victim number one, Joan Edison, realtor, handling the sale of the hotel, and victim number two was Larry Williams, moving some stuff out to Goodwill.” “Well there’s a connection, they’re both tied up in shutting the place down,” Dean says. “Yeah, maybe someone here doesn’t want to leave, and they’re using Hoodoo to fight back,” says Sam. Dean wonders if it’s Susan, but Sam says it doesn’t seem likely as she’s selling the place. “So what then, Sherwin?” asks Dean. “I don’t know,” Sam replies. “Of course the most troubling question is why do these people assume we’re gay,” Dean says. “Well you were kinda butch,” Sam says. “Probably thought you were over-compensating.” Dean smiles at him, “Right.”
The boys walk down the hall, and Sam finds another urn with Hoodoo inside. Dean knocks on the door nearest them and Susan answers it, then asks them if everything’s okay with their room. They both answer quickly that yes, it’s great. She tells them that she was just in the middle of packing and starts to close the door when Dean suddenly spots something and says, “Hey, are those antique dolls? ‘Cause this one – this one here, he’s got a major doll collection back home.” Sam gives him a look, but Dean just says, “Don’t you, huh?” Sam turns resignedly and says, “Big time.” “Big time,” repeats Dean, smiling. “Do you think he could – we could come in a take a look?” “I don’t know,” she says, but Dean quickly cuts in “Please? I mean, he loves them. He’s not gonna tell you this, but he’s always dressing them up in these little tiny outfits and… you’d make his day. She would, huh? Huh?” Sam glares at him but then turns slowly to Susan and replies, “It’s true.” “Okay,” she says. “Come on in.” They go in and Dean looks at all the dolls, saying “Wow. That’s a lot of dolls. They’re nice, I mean, they’re not super creepy at all.” Susan says she supposes they are a little creepy, but they’ve been in the family forever and have a lot of sentimental value. Sam meanwhile as at the big doll house, and asks her what it is, the hotel? “That’s right,” she says. “An exact replica, custom built.” Sam notices the doll laying at the bottom of the stairs and picks it up, then says, “His head got twisted around. What happened?” “Tyler, probably,” Susan answers. At that moment Tyler comes in and tells her mother that Maggie’s being mean. “Tell her I said to be nice, okay?” says her mother. Sam comes over saying “Hey Tyler. I see you broke your doll. Want me to fix it?” “I didn’t break it,” she says. “I found it like that.” Sam suggests that maybe Maggie did it, but Tyler says firmly that neither of them did it, as Grandma would get mad if they did. “Tyler, she wouldn’t get mad,” says Susan, but Dean quickly says “Grandma?” “Grandma Rose,” says Tyler. “These are all her toys.” “Oh,” says Dean. “Where’s Grandma Rose now?” “Up in her room,” says Tyler as we are shown the silhouette of an old woman sitting in a room with some light coming in the window. Sam starts to say he’d love to talk to her about her incredible doll collection, but Susan quickly interrupts saying no. “I mean, I’m afraid that’s impossible.” She tells them that her mother’s been very sick and she’s not taking any visitors.
Outside, Dean asks what Sam thinks about the dolls, the Hoodoo, and the grandmother. “Well dolls are used in all kinds of Hoodoo,” he says. “Like curses, binding spells…” “I think maybe we found our witch doctor,” says Dean. They separate Sam is going to look at old obits and Dean is going to see what he can find out about the grandmother.
Front desk Susan is talking to a man who has come from the company who bought the hotel, and she asks him what kind of renovations they’re planning. He replies that they’re going to demolish the hotel.
Tyler’s room Tyler is playing with her dolls and teaset. There is a doll sitting on a bed in exactly the same position as the actual man from the sales company is in his own room. A door behind the doll starts to open, and at the same time the same thing is happening with the man. Tyler suddenly turns around and looks at the dollhouse and sees that the doll is now hanging from its neck. The same thing has happened to the sales man, he is hanging from the fan in his room.
Outside the hotel Sam looks out the window and sees police and ambulances taking the man away. Dean is outside and asks Susan what happened. Susan replies that a maid went in to change the sheets and he was just hanging there. “That’s awful,” says Dean. “He was a guest?” “He worked for the company that bought the place,” she says. “I don’t understand.” “What?” asks Dean. “We’re just getting a lot of bad luck around here,” she says. “Look, if you’d like to check out, I’ll give you a full refund.” “No thanks,” replies Dean. “I don’t scare that easy.”
The boys’ room Dean comes up and closes the door, then tells Sam, who is sitting in a chair in the corner, that there’s been another one, some guy just hung himself in his room. “I saw,” Sam answers. “We gotta figure this out, and fast,” Dean says. “What did you find out about Granny?” “You’re bossy,” Sam says. Dean looks at him. “What?” Sam shrugs. “You’re bossy. And short.” Then he laughs. “Are you drunk?” asks Dean. “Yeah. So?” Sam replies. Dean looks around and sees a bunch of empty glasses. “Stupid,” Sam says behind him. “Dude, what are you thinking? We’re working a case,” Dean says angrily. “That guy who hung himself. I couldn’t save him,” Sam says. “What’re you talking about? You didn’t know, you couldn’t have done anything,” Dean says. “That’s an excuse, Dean,” Sam says. “I should’ve found a way to save him. I should’ve saved Ava, too.” “Well you can’t save everyone, even you said that,” says Dean, but Sam hits the table next to him, making Dean stop. “No, Dean, you don’t understand, alright? The more people I save, the more I can change.” “Change what?” asks Dean. “My destiny, Dean!” says Sam. “Alright, time for bed, come on, Sasquatch,”says Dean, moving over and pulling Sam to his feet. “I need you to watch out for me,” says Sam. “I always do,” says Dean. “No, no no. You have to watch out for me. And if I ever turn into something I’m not… you have to kill me.” “Sam…” begins Dean, but Sam stops him. “Dean, Dad told you to do it, you have to.” “Yeah well Dad’s an ass,” says Dean. “He never should’ve said anything. I mean you don’t do that, you don’t lay that kinda crap on your kids!” “No he was right to say it!” says Sam. “Who knows what I might become! Even now, everyone around me dies.” “Well I’m not dying. And neither are you, now come on.” Dean pushes Sam down onto his bed. “No, Dean, you’re the only one who can do it,” says Sam, holding on to Dean’s jacket so he can’t move away. “Promise.” “Don’t ask that of me,” says Dean quietly, but Sam continues “Dean, please. You have to promise me.” Dean looks at him for a moment and then says “I promise,” reluctantly. “Thanks,” says Sam. “Thank you.” He starts to put his hand on Dean’s head but Dean shoves him off and pushes him the rest of the way onto the bed. Then he backs up and sits down.
Later he walks downstairs to the bar, where Sherwin is. The older man asks him if he found any good antiques, but Dean replies no, he got distracted. Sherwin offers him a drink, and he takes it. “So, poor guy, eh? Hung himself?” says Dean. “That kind of thing seems to be going around lately,” says Sherwin. “Yeah,” says Dean. “I heard about the other ones. It’s almost like this hotel is… cursed, or something.” Sherwin replies that every old place has it’s spilled blood, and if people only knew what’s gone on in some of the rooms they check into… “You know a lot about the place, don’t you?” says Dean. “Down to the last nail,” Sherwin replies. “I’d love to hear some stories,” Dean says. “Boy, you should never say that to an old man,” says Sherwin.
They are walking down a hall, Sherwin is showing Dean some pictures. He talks about how the hotel has been in the family for a century. Dean asks about Rose and what’s wrong with her, but Sherwin replies it’s not her business to say. Then he shows Dean a picture of a little girl, Rose, sitting in the lap of a dark-skinned woman. The woman has the same symbol around her neck as the boys saw on the urns. “Who’s that?” asks Dean. “That’s her nanny, Marie,” replies Sherwin. “She looked after Rose more than her own mother.”
The boys room The next morning, Sam is in the bathroom, leaning over the toilet and groaning. Dean comes in and, grinning, asks him how he’s feeling, then says he guesses mixing drinks wasn’t such a gangbuster idea. “Hey, I bet you don’t remember a thing from last night, do ya?” he asks. “I can still taste the tequila,” Sam groans, and Dean nods and then says, “You know there’s a really great remedy for a hangover, it’s a greasy pork sandwich served up on a dirty ashtray.” “Oh I hate you,” says Sam. “I know you do,” Dean smiles. “Hey, it turns out when Grandma Rose was a tyke she had a Cree old nanny who wore a Hoodoo necklace.” “So you think she taught Rose Hoodoo?” asks Sam. “Yes I do,” Dean replies. “Alright,” says Sam, getting up. “I think it’s time we talked to Rose, then.” “You need to brush your teeth first,” says Dean, walking away.
They knock a the same door as before and when no one answers, Sam picks the lock and they go in. There is a door nearby the room with the dolls and they go in. There’s a set of stairs and they go up. They see the old woman sitting her chair. “Mrs. Thompson?” says Sam. “Mrs. Thompson?” There is no answer. He goes around to face her and says they’re not here to hurt her. Then he stops. “Rose?” She just sits there looking at him. Sam goes over to Dean. “This woman’s had a stroke.” “Yeah but Hoodoo’s hands on. You gotta mix herbs and chant and build an altar.” “So it’s not Rose. Maybe it’s not even Hoodoo.” “Yeah, she could be faking,” says Dean. “What do you want to do, poke her with a stick?” says Sam. Dean nods. “Dude! You’re not going to poke her with a stick!” says Sam. Suddenly Susan comes in. She is angry and when they say they just wanted to talk to Rose, Susan says that the old woman is scared out of her wits. “I want you out of my hotel in two minutes, or I’m calling the cops,” she says, and they leave right away.
The hotel Tyler and Maggie are playing jacks on the floor when her mother comes in and asks if they’ve started packing yet. “No,” replies Tyler. “Why not?” asks Susan. “I don’t want to move,” says Tyler. “Yes, I know, but we have to,” says her mother. “Maggie says we’re not allowed to move,” says Tyler. “Yeah,” says Maggie. “Tyler, enough,” says Susan. “Maggie is imaginary. You are too old to have an imaginary friend and I am done pretending.” She walks away. “I don’t like her,” says Maggie.
Susan is carrying boxes out to the car. Sherwin is nearby in his own car and says he can help her with the boxes, but she says she’s got it and he leaves. Tyler is playing up in the playroom when suddenly the swing on the tiny swingset starts swinging. A wind picks up outside where Susan is and she sees the swings swinging by themselves. She walks over. Suddenly the seesaw starts moving as well. The one up in the playroom is doing the same thing. Outside, Susan’s car suddenly starts up. It is sitting right behind her, facing her. Susan reaches out her hand and stops the seesaw from moving. More of the playground equipment starts moving and as Susan backs up, she notices the car behind her start moving. She starts to run and just as it is about to hit her, Sam jumps out from the side and knocks her aisde. She is fine, and they go inside.
“What the hell happened out there?” she asks them. “You want to the truth?” asks Dean. “Of course,” she replies. “Well at first we thought it was some sort of Hoodoo curse. But that out there? That was definitely a spirit.” “You’re insane,” she says. “It’s been said,” says Dean. “I’m sorry, Susan. We don’t exactly have time to ease you into this, but we need to know when your mother had the stroke,” says Sam. “What does that have to do with anything?” she asks. “Just answer the question,” Sam answers. “About a month ago,” she says. “When the killings began,” says Sam. “See?” he says to Dean. “So what if Rose was working Hoodoo, but not hurt anyone, to protect them?” “She was using the five-spot urns to ward off a spirit,” Dean says. “Right, until she had a stroke and she couldn’t anymore,” Sam finishes. “Oh, I don’t believe this,” Susan says. “Listen, sister, that car didn’t try to run you down by itself, okay,” says Dean. “I mean, well I guess it did, technically, but the spirit can… forget it.” “Just believe what you want,” says Sam. “But the fact is your family is in danger, so you need to get everybody out of here. Your employees, your mother, your daughters, everybody.” “Um,” says Susan, “I only have one daughter.” “One?” says Sam. “I thought Tyler had a sister named Maggie,” says Dean. “Maggie’s imaginary,” replies Susan. The boys exchange glances and then Sam asks her, “Where’s Tyler?”
Rose’s room Maggie is standing in front of Rose, and she is saying that Tyler’s going to stay with her, and there’s nothing Rose can do about it. Tyler comes in and says “Maggie, don’t! We’re not supposed to bother Grandma.” “I know,” says Maggie. “Let’s go play.” “Can we have a teaparty?” asks Tyler. “We can have lots of tea parties. Forever, and ever and ever.”
Tyler’s room Susan and the boys run into the room, Susan calling Tyler’s name. Tons of the dolls are broken and thrown around the room. “Oh my God,” says Susan. She calls for her a bit longer, and then says “She’s not here!” “Susan, tell us what you know about Maggie,” says Sam. “Uh, not much. Tyler’s been talking about her since Mom got sick.” “Okay, did you ever know anybody by that name?” asks Sam. “No!” she says. “Think, think,” says Dean. “Somebody who could have lived here, might have passed away…” “Oh my God, my mum, my mum had a sister named Margaret,” says Susan suddenly. “She barely spoke about her.” “Did Margaret happen to die here when she was a kid?” asks Sam. “She drowned in the pool,” says Susan. They leave the room, but there is a little doll that looks just like Maggie watching them.
The pool Tyler and Maggie are standing on the very edge of the swimming pool, looking down into it. It is half full, and there is a cover on top of it. “I don’t like it up here,” says Tyler. “I’m scared.” “It’s okay,” says Maggie. “All you have to do is jump.” “I can’t swim,” says Tyler. “I know,” replies Maggie, “but it won’t hurt. I promise. And then we can be together. Forever. And no one will bother us.” “Why don’t you just come with me and Mommy?” asks Tyler. “Because I can’t leave here. And you can’t leave me,” Maggie says. “Please? I don’t want to be alone.”
Sam, Dean, and Susan are running towards the pool. They come to it but the doors are closed and the glass is too thick to break. The boys pound at the door and Maggie suddenly hits Tyler’s hand so she lets go and falls into the pool. Dean asks if there’s another door, and Susan tells him around back. They run, leaving Sam at the other dor. He can’t break it so he starts breaking the glass with an urn that’s neraby. Tyler finally manages to come to the surface but Maggie pushes her back down and says, “It’ll all be over soon.” Dean is trying to break down the other door, but it won’t fall down. Suddenly Maggie hears someone calling her name, and she disappears. But Tyler isn’t moving. Sam finally breaks the door and jumps into the pool. He gets Tyler and swims to the edge of the pool just as Dean finally breaks in the door and they run down. Sam puts Tyler on the edge, but she doesn’t move. Then as they all watch in horror she suddenly coughs and wakes up. Sam asks her if she sees Maggie anywhere, but she replies that she’s gone.
Rose’s room Maggie is standing in front of Rose. “You’d really do that for me?” she says. “Yes. If you did, I’d let them go. But I don’t understand. You kept me away, for so long. I thought you didn’t love me anymore.” Rose just looks at her. “Okay,” says Maggie. “Little sister.” She strokes Rose’s cheek.
Susan is going upstairs to get Rose. Sam and Dean wait downstairs. “I don’t get it, did Maggie just stop?” says Dean. “Seems like it,” says Sam. “Well where the hell did she go?” wonders Dean. Suddenly they hear a scream from upstairs. They run up to see Rose lying dead in her chair.
Outside “Paramedics say it was another stroke,” says Susan as they watch them taking away Rose’s body. “You think Margaret could have had something to do with it?” “We don’t know,” says Dean. “But it’s possible,” says Sam. “Susan, I’m sorry.” “You have nothing to apologize for,” she says. “You’ve given me everything.” Then she turns to Tyler, who is coming out of the hotel. “You ready to go, kiddo?” she asks, and Tyler nods. “So Tyler you’re sure Maggie’s not around anymore,” asks Dean. “I’m sure. I’d see her,” replies Tyler. “Well I guess whatever’s going on, it must be over,” says Dean. “You two take care of yourselves, alright?” says Sam, and then Susan hugs Sam. “Thank you. Both of you,” she says, and then the two of them get into a taxi and leave. Dean comments that he thinks Susan liked Sam, and Sam replies “Yeah, that’s all she needs.” “Well you saved the mom, you saved the girl. Not a bad day,” says Dean. “Course you know I could’ve saved her myself, but I didn’t want you to feel useless.” Sam laughs. “Alright, I appreciate it.” “It feels good, getting back in the saddle, doesn’t it?” says Dean. “Yeah,” says Sam. “Yeah it does. But it doesn’t change what we talked about last night, Dean.” “We talked about a lot of things last night,” says Dean. “You know what I mean,” says Sam. “You were wasted,” says Dean. “But you weren’t,” replies Sam. “And you promised.” The boys look at each other for a bit, and then they get into the car. Dean looks like he’s going to say something, but then he doesn’t, and they drive away.(A WORK IN PROGRESS NEED TO UPDATE TO SEASON 2 EPISODES)
