About Me

Last year I turned 30 and as I have come to realize this, it's made me think about what I've been doing these past 29 years. I can honestly say I had a very good childhood, thanks to my wonderful parents and my loving cousin Lupe. Of course there were some bad times, mostly the result of alcohol abuse by one of my uncles who is no longer with us. I forgive him. I have a brother and two sisters I am very proud of. Growing up, my sisters and I would love to play school, office, doctor and even church. We would put together an alter in the yard and bring out all the saints and decorate it with flowers from the neighbors yard. Playing school was our favorite. My older sister was always the teacher until she developed an interest in boys. Then I stepped in. We had real desks and a huge chalkboard. The kids from next door would come and play. I enjoyed putting names on the board with checkmarks; I would even make names up to make the class seem larger. Good times. I grew up with a black labrador that acquired the name "Lucky" after I made the statement, "He's lucky to be in our family." Sad to say after a hit and run accident, he limped around on three legs, but stuck around for 14 loyal years. I picked up the trumpet at the age of nine and I never put it down. After high school I played in college with the UCI Pep Band. After that I played professionally with a mariachi band and salsa band. I currently play with a local cover band, The Stalker Dan Band. Academics was very important to me as an adolescent. Math and art were my favorite subjects which then turned into a passion for architecture. I didn't know much about it until I was in high school and my Upward Bound counselor asked me what I wanted to major in once i went to college. Architecture had a lot to do with math and art. The more I learned about it, the more I began to love it. One of my aspirations is to be a part of the community development of my hometown. When it comes to designing, my motto is not to invent something new, but to bring out the beauty that is already there. I have had so much support from my family, friends and people I have met along the way. I wish everyone knew how grateful I am and I hope that I can give everyone the same happiness that was given to me.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
