MonoZero have been around for some time in different guises. As a four piece they have been known as KANE and more recently LhASA.Their sound is often called dark, atmospheric and intense. Lately they seem to get called post-rock - and if you know what post-rock means please send your answers on a postcard to.... MonoZero have just recorded their first album for the net label, BlackStar. The album RECOVERY POSITION will be available to buy through mail order, iTunes and Napster SOON. Please be their friend, they will love you long time. If you want any further info just get in touch.....but you'd better like it dark baby.
"MonoZero are a 3 piece band from the North of England. Their raw intensity is bore from other unique bands such as Joy Division, Loop, God Machine and even the dark little band U2 used to be in the late 1970's... they create an ethereal and almost other worldly sound that although dark and intense, is also uplifting and joyous... MonoZero’s debut album ‘Recovery Position’ is astonishingly accomplished... 12 slabs of beautifully imaginative and surprisingly catchy songwriting. They have been in Recovery Position too long and if there is any justice in the world this Lazarus of a band will take up their sticks - and rock."
ORGANZINE - ALBUM OF THE MONTH - 5/5
"A friend of mine recently declared MonoZero to be the best Hull band in a decade and listening to the maturity and intensity of new album 'Recovery Position' I can see why… Mat Hume is a real find with a voice pitched somewhere between Jim Morrison and Ian Astbury...Rich Starks atmospheric guitars are masterly and give the band their distinctive glow... underpinned by what at first sound like looped beats, but you soon come to realise that there are no computers used here, rather a suburb and imaginative rhythm section that are both simple and complex in equal measure. Together MonoZero create the kind of music that makes you wish you were in a band. Uber-cool, dark, and wonderfully original."
