DRAINZ DA REBEL

About Me

Morgan VanDunk A.K.A. Drainz Da Rebel was born in Nyack, NY and raised in Hillburn, NY, which are both located in Rockland County, NY. Drainz is a nickname given to him by friends based on the lifestyle he leads. Drainz is short for the name Drano. Drainz is also a metaphor for drains, which are found in the streets of the world. Drainz is a product of the streets. A normal day for Drainz consists of holding his life down whether the situation is good or bad. This is the meaning of Drainz. The Rebel is another part of his personality that comes out when his (so called) back is against the wall or in a tight situation, whether the odds are against him. A "Rebel" is one, who resists or refuses to obey the law, authority or control of any kind. Drainz also uses the word “rebel”, because he feels with ever day life situations that come at you, it is a must you need to be a rebel to stand against the powers that can take you under. Drainz also refers to "Life", which is the union of the body and soul. Drainz believes you keep your mind together the body will follow, but on the other hand, if you don't there could and would be severe consequences, such as death or in jail. REBEL LIFE is the way of life that Drainz believes in to survive here on earth. Music has been a love of his (mainly Hip Hop) from a very young age. He’s been rapping since the first grade, but at the time had a love for break dancing when it was popular. All throughout Junior High School (Suffern Junior High) and High School (Suffern High) he would compete in school talent shows and this continued throughout his college (Southern Connecticut State University) years. Drainz really started taking music seriously about 3 years after college he performed in Manhattan NYC, where he has represented the countryside of New York, (Rockland County,NY) at “Talent America, Club Speed and Club Pyramid”, etc. Drainz continues to perform at local venues as well, Drainz Da Rebel was introduced to Clay J. Wilson, President/CEO of CLAYTONQUEST RECORDS in the winter of 2003 (an independent recording label based in Rockland County NY), by Edwin Mann A.K.A. Ed One of Street Camp Productions, and both Ed One and Drainz have worked with the company for a short stint. The first release called “The Interview” is produced by Blue Murphy (Blue Murphy appears on CLAYTONQUEST RECORDS) and features music production by Ed One. This record was released in Tower Records stores in January 2006, but unfortunately Tower Records shut down a few years later. “The Interview album still continues to be sold at www.cdbaby.com. To search for the album you need to spell his name DRENZ. Drainz is no longer with CLAYTONQUEST RECORDS and has started his own label called "REBEL LIFE RECORDS". Drainz has now completed his second CD called "THIRTEEN THE MOVEMENT", which feature’s is clique called "REBEL LIFE". THIRTEEN was produced by the hottest in ROCKLAND COUNTY. Blackstone, Beatmonster, ED-One, TOP NOTCH and DRAINZ. This mix tape was released in 2008. Drainz also has completed is third mix tape called “I Want More Life” vols. 1 and 2, which is soon to be released. Drainz has faith that all will go well and good things will happen with his music now and in the future. "BUT SEE HIM WHEN YOU SEE HIM" REBEL LIFEEEEEE! rebel1 rebel1

Influences: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csE9qBHhOf8 YOUNG AFRICAN AMERICAN MALES COUNTINUES TO LAG BEHIND IN EDUCATION, AND EMPLOYMENT. DRUGS, ALCOHOL, SUICIDE, HOMICIDE, AND POVERTY FOR MANY YOUNG AFRICAN AMERICAN MALES ARE A WAY OF LIFE. WE ARE DISPROPORTIONATELY REPRESENTED IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM. THE 4.5 MILLION AFRICAN AMERICANS AGES 15 TO 29 REPRESENT 14% OF THE U.S. MALE POPULATION OF THAT AGE, AND 12% OF ALL AFRICAN AMERICANS IN THE U.S. YET OF THIS SAME GROUP, THEY REPRESENT MORE THAN 40% OF THE POPULATION IN THE PRISON SYSTEM. THE LOW RATES OF EMPLOYMENT, LACK OF COLLEGE EDUCATION, AND HIGH DEATH RATES CREATES GREAT CONCERN IN AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE NATION. THERE IS NO SOLUTION IN SIGHT. THE YOUNG BLACK MALE IS AT RISK FOR...? HE IS RUSHING TOWARDS HIS OWN DESTRUCTION WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE. "REBEL" I learned in life every nigga u shake hands wit aint yo real nigga.
