I think, generally speaking, the world would be a better place without it. I despise tv almost as much as I despise the radio. When I do actually have time to just sit and watch tv, I tend to opt for educational (Discovery, History, TLC, etc.) channels.

Books:

The Bible, The Lord of the Rings, Wuthering Heights, Stardust, The Hobbit, Jane Eyre, The Princess Bride, Gone with the Wind, Little Women. . . If it keeps me interested, I like it. I love reading, and I love the smell of books. Does that make me weird?
