Ben Carrigan is a founding member of Irish band ‘The Thrills’. They have released 3 top 10 albums, toured extensively worldwide and collaborated and toured with artists such as The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, U2, REM, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Oasis, Beck, Pixies, Van Dyke Parks, James Burton (Elvis Presley), Ronnie Wood, Bob Geldof and producers Dave Sardy and Tony Hoffer. They have also been nominated for numerous awards, including the prestigious Mercury Music Prize. In 2003, after tremendous critical acclaim, their album ‘So Much For The City’ was rated as the No. 2 Album of the Year by ‘The New York Times’, only falling 2nd to OutKast’s ‘Speakerboxxx / The Love Below’.
Carrigan has recently been working as a session drummer. He has toured with Irish band HAL and recorded tracks for Cathy Davey’s celebrated 2007 album ‘Tales of Silversleeve’. Most recently, Carrigan has been writing music and scoring for short films, narratives and advertisements. He has also written extensive orchestral works since completing a course in Orchestration at the Berklee School of Music in June 2008. He also currently works as an arranger and has recently written string quartet arrangements for Irish act ‘Carly Sings’ whose highly acclaimed debut album ‘The Glove Thief’ was released in June 2008. Carrigan also has a number of solo projects that are currently in production. Watch this space!!
