About Me

When their drummer quit in late 2005, Melbourne songwriters Kirsty Stegwazi and Rene Schaefer disbanded their old band The Bites. They wrote a set of new songs and reconvened as HAND HELL. Hand Hell's music reflects the duo's fierce indie aesthetic and love of noisy guitars and heavy pop tones. Hand Hell recorded their album 'Phonography' in 2006 with the amazing Jen from Go Genre Everything on drums. Hand Hell then found a permanent drummer in NZ ex-pat Ricky French. Check out the band he plays guitar and sings in, Actor/Model. Hand Hell released their debut album 'Phonography' in October 2007 on their own label Dusky Sounds. If the CD isn't available in your part of the world (which is pretty damn likely) drop us a line and we're happy to send you one. Hooray for DIY!
