Seattle's own Surreal Sutra is a dynamic power trio who bring an arena rock presence to every venue they play. They've scarred the scene in a time where music has been over saturated with cookie-cutter bands that all look and sound the same. Their sound ranges from heavy riff rock 'n' roll, to funk, and progressive art rock. They've intertwined a powerful light show with classic movie images accentuating their set list with an intense, mind-blowing stage production complete with high flying drumstick gymnastics. Amazingly capable musicians, these theatrics cannot be fully captured on a simple audio recording. Their breathtaking live show is something to be marveled. In a city that has been overrun by indie and grunge rock for the past fifteen years, these three have somehow catapulted past the fray to earn recognition by headlining shows at the Showbox, Nuemos, Chop Suey, Graceland and Fenix Underground as well as successfully touring the west coast. They've been featured on radio stations such as 99.9 KISW, 107.7 THE END, 96.5 KROQ and 104.9 Funky Monkey. Other accomplishments include an appearance on the TV show Locals Only, which aired on the FOX Network as well as many shining write ups in local press. It seems no one can accurately answer the question "What do you guys sound like?" There is only one real answer: "Surreal Sutra." With such an array of influences among them, they've managed to maintain an identity all their own, from straight up in your face guitar, bass and drum rock to their slower piano driven mood music. They love making music, love life and although they bitch about it in their lyrics, and seem to have a "fuck what everyone else thinks" attitude, you can tell that they have a real passion and respect for music and they are eager to share theirs with the world. This is only the beginning of Surreal Sutra's relentless assault on the concert going populace. To experience Surreal Sutra is to see them live. Love them or hate them, you can't ignore them.
