Giuffria

About Me

Giuffria was a melodic rock band that was formed in the early 1980s by former Angel keyboardist Gregg Giuffria. After Angel disbanded in 1981, Giuffria quickly put together a band that looked and sounded like Angel. The original lineup included David Glen Eiesley on vocals, Craig Goldy on guitar, Chuck Wright on bass, and Alan Krigger on drums. Giuffria then named his new band after himself and signed a record deal with MCA Records. The self-titled Giuffria album was released in 1984, just as the hair metal movement was gaining momemtum. With the band's glam looks and Giuffria still sporting his long mane of blond hair, it shouldn't have been hard for them to sell albums. Unfortunately, the album only spawned one hit single, "Call To The Heart", which managed to get into the top 20.Giuffria quickly replaced Goldy with guitarist Lanny Cordola, and Wright was replaced with bassist David Sikes. Wright would go on to join Quiet Riot after leaving Giuffria. Giuffria's second album, Silk + Steel, was released in 1986, but sold far less than its predecessor, and MCA dropped the band in 1987.Disappointed but undaunted, Giuffria regrouped his band, and signed a new record deal with Simmons Records, the label created by Kiss' Gene Simmons. It was Simmons who discovered Angel back in the 1970s, and Giuffria felt that Simmons could revive his band's career. Simmons, however, suggested that Giuffria rename his band House Of Lords, and with that, Giuffria (the band) ceased to exist.
